I... Lowkey wanted to know why the Flavia gets a negative sales figure... Also one of my favourite story about cancelled car was the Smart Formore. Smart wanted to sell something for the US Market so they developed the Formore. It was supposed to based be produced in Brazil instead of the Smartville factory in France. But in the end DaimlerChrysler decided to scrap the project due to financial reason (Development of the Formore costing too much money while DaimlerChrysler decided to focus on making Smart profitable). In the end, Smart makes its US debut in 2008 selling the Fortwo. While the concept version remains lost until 2009 when someone found it on a Mercedes warehouse (It was supposed to be showcased on 2005 Frankfurt Auto Show but Smart decided not to)

9:30 TLDR: The B13 became the 威尔BHJ6490 by PLA Air Force 5720 Factory, which primarily supplies parts for aircraft repairs. Here's the thing few people really caught on: Both the 5720 Factory and the Chery headquarters are located in Wuhu City, Anhui. Very likely Chery offloaded their unused stock of B13 bodykits to a neighboring factory that wanted some fleet vehicles for factory use. Chery still needed the engines so the BHJ6490 was equipped with a very low-powered engine from a different supplier other Chery.

Proton may not have ended up making their own Evo, but the general public did, which is why it’s very hard to find an actual Evo 1-3 there
@yugenboy3 ай бұрын
@@bmoboss And even if it's actually an Evo 1-3, you would probably have to take a long time to confirm it. Doesn't help that some/most of the retired PERT cars were sold through the newspaper classifieds as Evo 1-3s back then (Even though they are). But I guess back on topic, there would be more examples under the brand: - "Sepang" which became the Lotus Europa S and then somewhat revived as the "Lekir" concept in 2010. What's interesting is that there are patents of the Proton-badged version of the Europa S back in 2004, when both cars were in development. - A wagon version of the 2nd generation Saga was spotted being towed. But it was more likely a test-mule than anything else. This wasn't the first time Proton had tried to make a wagon out of an existing model as a prototype of an "estate" version of the Wira was spotted around the 90s as it was presumed to be made before the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis (Which could play a part in the cancellation of their Putra/Coupe WRC programme around that time.) - A potential replacement model of the Perdana came as the form of a Mitsubishi 380 prototype back in 2008, presumably for internal evaluation. Not even Proton could salvage the 380 from its demise. The Perdana nameplate returned from 2013-2020 as a rebadged Accord. - A mock-up prototype of a Tiara replacement was made from rebadging a Citroen Saxo in 1997, as the Tiara was a rebadged Citroen AX. But proven how unpopular the Tiara was, it never materialised for production.
@petrolweeb3 ай бұрын
Also a lot of Proton models was planned to be Citroen based (Including a plan to rebadge the Saxo as a Proton) but didn't happen due to similar reason. Only model that was managed to be sold was the AX based Tiara. But that was a flop in the end

Heard the upcoming 4th gen may return the hatchback model, but i doubt it'll either be the "wagon hatchback" or "aeroback hatchback", and instead likely be Iriz replacement. - I've always fantasises the idea of Perdana not being the 8th gen accord rebadge (specifically the government use from 2013-2016, the home design from 2016-2018 looks pretty nice). The 380-based might've been a nice contender to the Aurion-based Camry and 8th-gen Honda Accord. And with some old speculation considering Nissan Fuga for Perdana's new body, it'll be a coincidence replacement since Mitsubishi is now under Renault-Nissan Alliance.

skoda in early 2000s conquered market, so vw was definitely worried that their sub brand would surpass them and they kinda stopped then from developing their own quirky identity. i love early 2000s cars in general because i read about them in magazines when i was i kid. good times. and good video as usual

I once saw a coupe SS Tahoe from the previous generation that came with a 454 and a little shorter wheelbase than that which should be pretty decent off road; it has been my dream car ever since

Man, sad that Saab 9-5NG (and the 9-3NG 3rd gen Phoenix version) never made it into long term production, let alone the hatchback variant, which probably my favourite variant as it reminiscing to the 900/9000 models, and love it's odd liftback design. Other models that i'm sad that never made into production: - Range Rover Vogue 2 Door (same goes for any 2-door SUVs) - Hyundai R-class like model (I like the R-Class at it looked like MPV/Wagon instead of Popular Crossover) - Ford Taurus 1st gen with conventional grill - Dodge Calibre (Lancer based instead of the crossover)

2 great examples I can mention is the B32A was supposed to be a Nissan Almera replacement that rode on nissans C-platform and was supposed to be a conventional hatchback. However it got cancelled around 2002 during design stage as they couldn't figure out how to make it profitable. Instead we got the Nissan Qashqai. Another is that Caterham was supposed to help build the Alpine A110 and Caterham was supposed to have its own version but it got cancelled in 2014-2015 when they could afford to match Renaults development costs

The Saab 9-3 also had some wagon pre-production models, some of which actually did manage to get registered for the road and into people's ownership

They made the 9-3 Sportcombi from 2006 until 2011... thousands of them produced. There were 37 9-5NG Sportcombis produced, of which 27 stille xist with 24 being "roadworthy"... no true number for total that are registered, but they all are in Europe. I've been on the look for one to import for a decade now. Have seen a custom one made from a 9-5 and an Opel Insignia SportsTourer.

When Opel was still a part of GM, they developed a new Corsa F on a GM platform, even spyshots of the car exist. But then Opel was sold to PSA (todays Stellantis) and they developed a different Corsa based on the Peugeot 208. Would love to see the GM version!

A pretty famous one is the 5 or so new Lotus models revealed around 2010, none of which made it to production. It included an entirely new styling language, a new Elan, Esprit, Elise, GT 2+2 and four door GT - as well as at a later time an independent concept, the Ethos, which was a city car that also had that styling language.

Oldsmobile announced a variant of the 1977 Toronado called the XSR, which was to have power retractable t-tops that slid into the center roof bar. Sales brochures were printed, and Tomica even started producing small die cast toy versions. However, try as they might, engineers couldn't resolve water drainage issues with the top system, so the Toronado XSR never made it to showrooms.

So the "Dodge Lancer" was supposed to be the Caliber but Dodge didn't go through with it and instead made the Caliber which was still based on the Lancer but they made it hatchback, I don't know why to this day but I do know that you can bolt the Evo X drivetrain into a Caliber and no one has done it yet.
