Wyatt F. The only other person to match his power was/is walker T.R.(a fellow Texan)...They battled once, and the sheer power generated between the two was what actually caused the extinction of the dinosaurs...not a meteor that M.S.M. has everyone believe. After that they called a truce, and both have protected Texas ever since.

Ryan is old school - like Drysdale and Bob Gibson, you take your lumps from them and don't complain. It reminds me of an old story about Bob Gibson hitting someone in the head whom he didn't dislike, that is, it was a brushback pitch that got away, not a headhunting pitch. Gibson visited the guy in the hospital, and apologized, telling him it was an accident. The guy told Gibson it was OK, to which Gibson famously replied _"I meant to hit you in the neck."_

I looked these games up. In all of them, the batter and the pitcher were both ejected. In all cases, the batter was replaced at first with a pinch runner (I had wondered if any of them were called out for not going to first base). With one exception: Nolan Ryan was not ejected. In fact, White Sox manager Gene Lamont was ejected for arguing that he should be too, instead of just Robin Ventura! The rules are different when you're a legend, I guess. 5/29/2017: Wash. 3, SF 0 9/16/2007: Tex. 11, Oak. 9 8/4/1993: Chi. 2, Tex. 5 8/11/2009: Det. 5, Bos. 7 6/5/2008: TB 1, Bos. 7

I remember when Ventura charged the mound on Nolan Ryan, and I said "This one will be talked about for decades." Still THE historical buttkicking of all time. The other, of course, is often forgotten, maybe because it wasn't a mound charge, and that was when the Cardinals and Giants were playing. Ozzie Smith was on 1st base. Will Clark was the 1st baseman. Ozzie started something with him, and Clark stomped a mudhole in him.

Vin Scully used to like to tell the story of the only guy (whose name escapes me) whoever charged the mound on Don Drysdale, a formidable guy at 6' 5" 200 pounds. Drysdale had drilled the guy for crowding the plate (the inside of the plate belonged to Drysdale) and the batter promptly took first base without incident. Then the next pitch, Drysdale threw over to first and drilled the guy again, lol. It was just too much and the guy charged and the dugouts emptied on to the field, lol. Ah the good old days. In the old days, if you stood at the plate and admired your home run run, you got drilled the next time up.
