@Prangya Jyothi Nayak and @mountain trekker - It's not about brave it is about the people who are asking you for the money. Around 10 years back (have been traveling for 24 years now) in Kaula Lumpur couple of cops stopped me on the street while I was shopping and asked me for my passport - I gave them my US Passport CARD (yes, the give cards as well like license) and US License and they said it (card) would not work. I pointed to the Hotel (5 star) that was say few hundred meters and said we can go to my hotel I can show my passport. They said no ask someone to bring. I said I am alone traveling on business - they said you will go to jail (not police station ☺️) I said - if there is a fine I am willing to pay, is there anything else I can do. this went on for 35 minutes. I got frustrated and said how much money do you want? one of the cops said - how much do you have? I paid them $100 USD. I think asked can I go shopping now? the guy started laughing and said go get your passport else another police guy will stop you. Now I don't blame/label all cops like that, that was my experience. I can write about my travel escapades. 🤪
