Un-freaking-believable! Fully worth the long wait. It takes guts to lay out in dozens of takes such a long and challenging piece.

This is unbelievable. I'm actually crying. This version is so much more powerful than other versions I've heard because of the perfect balance of volume - the shrieking highs are stabilized by roaring lower voices and everything feels so supported. I'm also happy to be able to hear unique tones such as the G at 2:09 which is drowned out and lost in other versions! Also - love your white pants :)

This is amazing on more levels than I can count. That voice, the control, the editing, the lighting, the choosing of best acoustical place to sing, the SOUND. This is talent and skill and gifting beyond measure. There are just no words stellar enough to describe this. Those final notes at the end and at around 11:40. I think we have had a taste of what the Heavenly Throne Room will sound like.

As a musician and choral director (who has a bit of video editing experience) I can only say that I am astounded. I found your channel by searching "When I Leave the World Behind" which was stellar (especially how you tweaked the tag at the end), but this is some next level stuff. I cannot imagine the amount of time taken to record all the tracks and edit them. It was visually stunning as well as aurally stimulating. I am going to be showing this tomorrow to a few of my kids in hopes to jump start their creative juices. Bravo.

A lot of people (including myself) think or even dream of doing this and either just don't or never can get around to it. YOU DID! What.. An.. Amazing.. Undertaking 🤯🤯🤯 I can barely do an 8 part (8 voice) arrangement and you did a Complete production with the voices of a full chorus. I know the patience and tedious nature of what the basic idea requires, you're just on a completely different level with it. Well done, you got my full standing ovation sir!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

This is absolutely fantastic. You very closely managed the essence of a large chamber choir in your mix and I am blown away by your vocal range and blend. It sounds like many unique vocal layers were placed on top of one another with a very articulate, warm, and natural vocal processing. It's like hearing this masterpiece for the first time again, so thank you. The editing also had beautiful care put into it as well, which any video editor can immensely appreciate. I was struck by when each layer started to turn red at that second build-up because that's always the kind of feeling I got listening to When David Heard; as this emerging sense of red despair at the thought of losing one's son. The piece itself is certainly up to interpretation, so pardon my partiality, but some parts of your song felt like it needed to be slowed down a bit and have taken its time more. Specifically a lot of those back-and-forths in the middle felt a bit rushed. A personal preference, surely, but just about the only critique I can think of. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. And I haven't even explored the rest of your KZbin channel yet. I'm excited to see your other performances now!

I used to listen to something similar to this back in college--think it was William Billings David's Lamentation.....it sounds like Whitacre took that, added a ton more parts, and cut out the "would to God I had died for thee, O Absolom, my son....my son." This arrangement loses me a bit in the middle with all the countertenor jumping around. Whitacre does stack a nice chord in general though. As usual, your performance was awesome. ....So I went looking, and here's a passable performance of the one I was talking about. The triplet near the end is appallingly weak, and they cut out a little trill at the end (which makes it even more boring), but you'll get the idea. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKTXoK1rmd51h8k
