When Did My Husband Lose His Hearing? New Hearing Aids (S12-Ep#8)

I think that a lot of people just write older people off when they are hearing impaired. My husband Joe doesn't know what caused his hearing loss at the age of 27. He probably was hard of hearing long before that age, but that's when I met him. He's one of the lucky people for whom hearing devices work. He got this first pair back in 2005 and now in 2024, he's getting his 4th pair. We are so excited because technology has changed so much that they new devices seem to do so much more.

We are working on learning ASL. As a bilingual household already.. so ASL is interesting because those who don't speak English have a completely different language for sign.

When we had our factory and had an employee who only spoke Spanish, I taught her sign language so she could communicate with Joe when I went to pick up the kids from school.
