I appreciate how this video tried to harmonize the apparent contradiction.

What then does John 20:21 mean concerning Jesus statement that He "breathed" on the disciples and said receive the Holy Spirit? We see in Genesis God breathed (Life) in Adam.

Concerning the Lord breathing on the apostles, the natural response when air is blown into our face is to breath in. As we ask the Lord for the Holy Spirit we praise Him, ask Him , breath in and continue. The Holy Spirit was recieved by the believers on Pentecost as they breathed in. When the Lord told the apostles " recieve ye the Holy Spirit" the Word " recieve "in the original Greek that the N.T. was written in ,means " to take hold of". So there is something we must do after we believe the gospel message to recieve the Holy Spirit. In Acts ch.3 Peter said that," God gives the Holy Spirit to those who obey him". Peter also said that that obedience consists of" repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit". God has poured out the Spirit on all flesh but in order for us to recieve the Spirit indwelling we must obey and ask. Salvation has always been a matter of our doing our part by acting on our free will to recieve what the Lord is so graciously offered us, salvation.
