It does make it sadder and I recognize that this was probably because of the show being canceled, but a part of me is glad that this is how it ended. So many shows promote the idea that you end up with your first love, More shows need to show a character arc where you're a kid, you fall in love, it ends, you grow, and you find someone who fits who you've grown into.

Here's the thing that bothers me about Sonny and Chad splitting up: THIS was the last straw? Really? To me, other things he'd done that drove Sonny nuts while they were dating were worse than him asking for a recount over an award--like having a double fill in for him part of the time was worse to me. * Also, while Sonny is totally allowed to enjoy the victory of course, she KNEW Chad was taking this really hard and he was trying to not let it bother him. She should've figured it'd come to a point when he took a drastic action to make himself feel better with a potential negative effect, it would happen sooner or later. Not to mention as low blow as something like a recount can be, it's an official call. * She can't deny an actual result just because it takes away So Random!'s moment to shine. If the recount had been hypothetical instead of official and still called Mackenzie Falls as the winner, this heavily implies that Sonny wouldn't have made the results public because it took away the win they'd never gotten before.

As dumb as this is, at least Cody and Bailey--whose dynamic I also loved--succumbing to jealousy and insecurity at what was supposed to be a high point in their relationship has more logic to it. * Not to mention Chad immediately knew what he did was wrong: he left the award behind.

Also, his saying she didn't care about the Falls was more important than their date when they hadn't even had it yet. All these things and the stunt double were worse. * The award is a very public altercation though and stemmed in the rivalry between the shows which we thought we were moving past, meaning that while it still doesn't quite work, you can almost see how it would. Also, his jeopardizing the bet with Mel by hiring people to cheer everything Sonny did didn't help either--even though it came from a place of trying to do right by her. Could probably find other dumb things and yes, this was something that ended up being pretty personal while she and Chad were dating, but it still doesn't feel right. * It could also just be that I'm tired of the Season 2 breakups on Disney at this point since their only real reason for being is so the couple has to basically start all over again. They're cheap and they're annoying.
