Great video, you two. The biggest misconception we experience is item 2, not being experts. Whiskeytube is full of passion projects, creative outlets, and people simply reaching out to generate a conversation. Perhaps there’s money to be made on really huge channels, but it’s all about community. If you don’t enjoy it, turn it off. 🤷 And if you do enjoy it, simply say so. It makes our day.

Hey guys! Hope everything is going good with the travels! I’m so envious of your experiences😂 Totally on point with your comment. Could not have said it better. This video inspired from a negative Reddit comment someone showed me about my channel. They tore me apart which some of the points I tastefully addressed in this video. I think everyone relates in some ways to one or many channels within the community. Pick your person(channel) and like you said if it’s not for you move on. Hope to cross paths with you all someday☺️

My dad was an alcoholic and I could see what it does to families first hand. As I have gotten older I have came to enjoy bourbon for the taste and not the affect of it. There is so much in bourbon to enjoy.
@jaimesrow6 ай бұрын
You speak my language. I fell in love with the taste. I don’t like to eat a meal with whiskey but it’s more as a dessert for me. I drink it slow to savor the flavor. But there are days I want nothing at all, the effects of feeling dehydrated or drunk turn me off. The channels are a challenge and neither one of us expected it to grow. A huge part of this video I cut was talking in depth about my childhood. I had an amazing mom but never had a father figure in my life that didn’t have an addiction to alcohol. My mom had always been a hero to me. She was physically and mentally abused by 3 different men as I grew up. As a child I witnessed this with my brother and sister. I’m so thankful all ended well she is happily married to a wonderful man now and me, I’m the lucky one David is an amazing dad. He’s truly a good man and it rescued the vision I had of men growing up. Appreciate you sharing and thank you so much for watching!

I really liked this episode it is interesting to hear these misconceptions. I really enjoy your KZbin channel and appreciate your reviews of the different bourbons and like to listen to what you have to say and have purchased many bottles on your recommendation, thank you for what you do hear and will continue to watch your channel. Good luck in your new house, hope to meet you someday.

As a new and very small channel, I get all of these. I'm only doing videos to have a little fun and share some of my whiskey experiences. I just began my journey into whiskey this year and was accumulating bottles. I was watching a lot of the whiskey channels and figured why not video my experience also. Your channel is definitely an inspiration into a whiskey journey.

This was a really good video with solid talking points. This type of open conversation is part of why I watch both of your channels. My bottle count is going up because I'm a 1 or 2 a night 3-4 nights a week drinker. I even got an Ole Smokey banana pudding moonshine to try. Keep the great content coming 🥃❤️🥃

Good topic to discuss, with all social media about anything(you name the topic, not just whiskey) gives everyone a microphone in the comments section and some people just can't understand that people have different opinions. It won't totally change but maybe more videos like this will make people think before commenting.

Y'all do a great show. Enjoyable and informative. Anyone who tries to blame a KZbin channel for alcoholism is so uninformed about what alcoholism is. I appreciate your content, and as someone who is enjoying their whiskey journey, it is about the taste, not about getting smashed.

Owns 697 bottles: "I don't have that same drive or connection to alcohol that they did". In all fairness, someone can have a single bottle open at a time and still end up in a much worst place. I really enjoy both of your channels
@jaimesrow6 ай бұрын
David meant the addiction side of alcohol. I don’t care how many bottles David(we) have, if he(we) misused, things would be very different. That is why our content post very inconsistent, we take breaks as needed. We love whiskey and the community but that is a small part of our lives compared to our kids and family. On the other hand sadly not everyone is as fortunate as us. There are many who struggle, and it’s easy to fall under addiction. You are totally right, one bottle can do this. We struggle a lot with having a whiskey channel for these reasons. Appreciate you taking the time to comment. Thank you.

I don't believe in experts. I do believe you can identify with someone's palate and trust their judgment. Deb likes Jaime's palate and I kind of gravitate towards Jason C. I tend to get a lot of opinions on bottles, especially if they're pricy. Your two make an awesome team!

You have to be careful with alcohol. I do not drink during my work week. I have a couple of pours on my weekend because I really enjoy whiskey and do not want it to become a problem.
@jaimesrow6 ай бұрын
That’s really good discipline. Davids really good about knowing when he needs time off from drinking. The feeling of wanting the taste that leaves us vulnerable for addiction. Which has made us very aware when it could happen. I love whiskey but too much makes me not want it for a while. Having whiskey channels is a challenge. We’ve learned to moderate drinking as we film is why our content is never consistently posted. Appreciate you taking the time to comment and helping to advocate awareness.

Man, I love that last statement…. If you have a problem turn off the video and get some help. I think that having a channel almost helps you not drinking too much as you are trying a bunch of whiskey’s and not just pouring glen after glen to get toasty. Really enjoy what you two are doing on both channels and appreciate any awareness you guys bring to the forefront about the possible issues people face from over drinking
@jaimesrow6 ай бұрын
Appreciate you taking the time to comment. You are correct. Having a channel really makes us sensitive to self awareness. There’s been many times David will say to me, I’m taking time off. He knows when he really wants it he’s vulnerable. Addiction could easily happen. I’m proud how much we’ve grown to really support each other. Holding each other accountable especially when we see it happening.

The whiskey isn't free, but how much of it is bought with patreon $?
@jaimesrow6 ай бұрын
You are not wrong. I can only speak for ourselves, we do multiple free giveaways on our patreon and public livestreams weekly. Then we supply the whiskey row rumble which is a Matt Madness for our patreon group at least twice a year. 3 samples to 56 ppl who join, then the finalist. Shipping is a huge expense for us not to mention trying to keep up with bottle budget. The channel requires fresh content. Barrel picks are completely a wash, expense wise. No money made from us but we love doing them. If anything we have lost money on picks. The channels make money don’t get me wrong, but we put a good amount back in to keep the flow. David has a great “real” job which helps pay for many of the travel whiskey trips we take. Appreciate you pointing that out, months are never consistent
