So, I've seen a lot of people, and I mean a lot of people, call Douma sexist. And, frankly, I never understood that. How is he sexist? I'm guessing people say that while comparing him to Akaza. So, in this comment, I'll be explaining how he isn't sexist, and how Akaza, to some extent is. HOW DOUMA ISN'T SEXIST- He literally eats women because they're healthier and more nutritious, how is that sexist? I don't think it's been mentioned that he only eats women, by the way. I'm pretty sure he mostly eats women, but I don't think he has any problem with eating males. It's like a human preferring something healthy over something unhealthy, it's just our choice. And it doesn't mean you have to hate/not eat that unhealthy item. You can eat it, but not very often. So, preferring to eat women over men isn't misogynistic. This is all my opinion, I'd be happy to listen to anything you have to say that I missed or if I said something wrong. Now, for the more important part, Akaza. HOW AKAZA'S MORE SEXIST THAN DOUMA- Now, before Akaza fans attack me, I'm not straight out saying he's misogynistic. I'm just saying he's definitely more sexist than Douma, if the two were compared. As I explained above, Douma's preference to eat a specific gender stems from nutrition related reasons. Akaza's, however, does not. He genuinely believes women are the weaker gender, and are not worthy to fight. And there's nothing in the KNY verse that can prove him wrong. There's not a single female character that could solo him. This is most likely caused by his past and Koyuki's condition. So, though his reasons for doing it were good, "women are weak so I won't fight them," is definitely more misogynistic than "women are nutritious so I prefer eating them". Even if that was not the case, I do believe that eating only men is worse than preferring women. Again, this is all my opinion, I'd be happy to listen to anything you have to say that I missed or if I said something wrong.

Akaza’s past might very well play a role in it and after his fiancé was killed the memory might’ve been rooted into his memory without him being conscious about it. Maybe the thought of him not being able to protect the woman he loved made him unconsciously want to protect/not harm another woman. Everything Akaza does seems to keep connecting to to his past, and maybe though he sees women as something to protect he won’t admit it. After all, if he knows that women are more nutritious then why wouldn’t he eat them? He might’ve convinced himself that they aren’t worthy of being eaten, but he must know that eating women is better than eating men since douma constantly nags him about it and how he can get stronger if he eats women. From what I’ve read in the manga it seems like he’s avoiding eating and harming women because he sees them as (not weak and unworthy) but as something to protect, like I said before, because he couldn’t protect the woman he so loved. But since he can’t remember his past he convinced himself that women are weak despite that not being the reason for his actions. But again this is just my theory, after all the true reason why Akaza doesn’t eat women wasn’t revealed in the manga, so everything everyone says is just a theory for now until we can get a hint of the real reason =]
