That case with the boating and that young woman dying was tragic. There was audio of her begging him to let her off the boat, she was so afraid and was the first, and main individual on that boat calling him on his horrible behavior. He was not remorseful, and was unaffected as her boyfriend sobbed in the aftermath. There were a lot of people who had motive, and I think the dad took advantage of that fact. They were “pillars of the community” and it was clear the police were unwilling to properly obtain justice for her and her family. It’s strange, because it isn’t often that I don’t feel particularly bad for a murder victim, and it makes me feel kind of like an asshole, but that boy was a sociopath who enjoyed causing other’s pain. The whole thing was made worse because he knew he wouldn’t face repercussions for what he had done, and was arrogant and cruelly mocking even directly following the boat wreck. The whole thing is such a tragic mess.
