@@coltoncarpenter3790 yeah I remember being little and watching that crash, i was happy because i wanted reed to win, which he didn’t anyways. But looking back on it and eli now being my favorite rider i hate watching that crash. Imo one of the biggest championship crashes in history. Lots of people fantasize about eli going undefeated or close too that year, and i really think it was possible

Eli tomac will go down as one of the all time greats. 3 straight outdoor championships, and 1 supercross title. (hopefully a second this year) 6 daytona wins and 5th on the all time wins list. People say dungey is the last of the “dynasty riders” like MC, Ricky and Villopoto, but Tomac certainly took that spot in the limelight once they all left. Hell, dungey retired flat out because of the hell that Tomac gave him his last year in 2017. He was contracted through 2019 i think. Goes to show how crazy this dude is on a bike! Edit: He won his second title in Denver this past weekend, ushering him into the title rankings (2) of James stewart, chad reed, and Cooper Webb.

@@johnnyvivic8730 It was either in a podcast or another similar racing video. And it is kind of a word of mouth thing since Dungey didnt say it in what i saw but someone else saying he did. The GOAT had a mudder to lap the field, still crazy, this was fun to watch. The lap times, which aren't mentioned enough, Tomac was 5 sec best better than Dungey but when they show Dungey's lap and leader's it's around 8 sec sometimes. Crazy, these guys are all so fast and to have Tomac making everyone look like they where on 125's is well, this was very cool.

Back then the field had no where near the talent depth it does now. You had 3 guys that could win in Ricky's era. And you had rv and dungey. When they came in and Stewart on the backside of his career. Eli's era. You've got 5-6 guys that can win at any time. Really it's more impressive now in my opinion for him to get a mediocre start on a tight supercross track and still win. When there aren't many spots to make up time most of the tracks

And that track was BRUTAL. They don't let them get this gnarly anymore for some reason. When I was younger I raced Millville all the time, and it always sorta pissed me off how smooth the track was for the pro race because how absolutely destroyed it was for any average amateur day, because when you have 1,000 amateur bikes vs 80 pros, it just doesn't break down the same. This track was like 1,000 amateurs had been on it. Makes it even more impressive to me, probably also part of why he was able to stretch it out so far. Those conditions really separate the men from the boys.

yeah but you gotta remember the overall skill/speed gap between the fastest and the slowest pros is significantly smaller than it was. 4 strokes sound a bit fatter back then? They seem pretty raspy now, nearly like 250s.

He would’ve been the third rider in history to go a season undefeated this year when he was doing this if it wasnt for that crash. He made it throught thunder valley and went 7-0 he woulda just kept on going

It was a simple mistake of the rear wheel bouncing to the wrong rut. If you look back on RCs past he had many lucky close calls, but like Travis Pastrana said RC had the best luck of any rider always being a weeble wobble.

For those 5 motos Eli was the fastest racer ever. I know we don't like to compare guys that didn't actually race each other BUT I think this one is pretty obvious. The only exception to this would be the 2006 Spring Creek mud race where RC lapped the field.

Ricky is the goat, but mud races are flukes. I don’t think Ricky ever came close to that kind of a gap in good conditions.
