awwwww sooo cute..... I learned my doxies do not do well with puppies.... I have two... we had a couple of new puppies in the family (not in my home but we see each other all the time and take our dogs with us) I was excited for my boys to meet the babies. All the other dogs I have been mommy too loved puppies. Charlie, the beagle that took Quincy (one of the doxie's) under his wing, was such a wonderful "dad" (he passed two years ago) I assumed Quincy would react the same way Charlie did... helll no, they tried to attack the pups, they were out to do not nice things... One was a tiny little fella of a whole two lbs (little mix) and one was a Frenchie at 12 weeks old... as the pups grew my dogs decided they were fun but both dogs had to pass the six month mark before they stopped looking at the pups at prey. I have never seen anything like it... I learned if I want to add to my pack would have to be an older dog...cause apparently mine hate babies!!!

There is no problem training Dachshunds. This is largely a myth and leads many to think they are untrainable or worst, simply don't even try! Dachshunds simply take longer than say, a gun dog. Same issue with terriers. They respond very well with CONSISTENT positive re-enforcement/clicker training. The operative word is consistent. Sadly, many people want a dog but don't want to invest the time in training.

Mainly because training isn't just about the dog; It's about the owner too. The vast majority of the time when I come across owners of Datsy's who claim their dog is untrainable (and then falls into a confirmation bias vicious circle) I usually see an issue with the owner. Multiple dynamics at play. However, the solution is actually quite simple.
