I haven’t seen the anime. But I read the manga and I love Hananoi. It is a cute shojo with somewhat new twist. It isn’t the most original, but it does what it has to well. The idea is that both leads have no idea what proper love is, Hananoi is all about self sacrificial and extreme because he is afraid of being abandoned.

I don't get people shitting on shojo since it's a demographic - how the heck do you hate an entire demographic? You can hate romance but shojo isn't limited to romance. There are enough shojo titles that have barely to no romance (focus). So yeah, those people who act like shonen (or seinen) are miles better than shojo just equal shojo with romance and cutesy stuff and that's like saying shonen is just action and seinen just the "dark mature stuff" à la Berserk. As for "A Condtion called Love": Ngl, Hananoi is the reason why I didn't bother starting the manga. Hotaru seems cute but I just don't have the patience for a dude whose lack of family love apparently made him all obsessed about finding *the One* and wanting unconditional love from them. I don't need "perfect relationships" from the start but I think Hananoi would frustrate me too much to watch/read with the stalking and not wanting Hotaru to have male friends etc. I mean good if he "becomes better" later but as I said, I don't have patience (and time) for that especially when I could watch/read other (shojo) romances instead. Btw: Hananoi has the same VA as Kaito from Zexal. Just as a random "fun fact".

I don't think that's a stigma against shoujo per se. I think that's just anime/vidja twitter being completely conquered by hype mongers. seriously all the slang is based on hype culture. "No dif" this. "Peak fiction" that. "Mid" the other i.e. "Everything must be the bestest thing ever that ever existed ever or else it sucks". All hype culture. I HATE HYPE CULTURE!

I dropped the anime after a few episodes. Didn't like it at all.
