They really are cute! They're also the favorite animal of renowned paleo-artist (and dad joke extraordinaire), Ray Troll. You should check his work out, if you're not already familiar. Animalogic has actually used his art before in at least one of their vids, but they did not credit him.

The origin of the name "Bobbitt worm" is most definitely NOT a myth, as John Wayne Bobbitt can sadly attest. Before June 23, 1993, it was more commonly known as a sand-striker worm. EDIT: I really, REALLY hope Andres didn't die from belladonna poisoning! That would be so sad!!

@@jamesharrell4360 This is correct, and also why we may want to consider not calling it that; by calling this animal the "Bobbitt Worm", we are by default making light of domestic abuse. Not that I am suggesting anyone is so doing deliberately, my comment is only food for thought. I myself called it BW before this was brought to my attention, and now I share the perspective for consideration.

There's a species of fish that they harvest in the deep waters around Australia and New Zealand. McDonalds even use it in their Filet O Fish burgers here! Blue Grenadier is the name of the fish, a kind of rat tail deep sea fish. Very tasty, very sustainable.

Being able to detect the heartbeat through the electric signals sounds quite scary. I'm guessing it only works on very short distance, but that basically negates every type of camouflage... (now I'm wondering if it would be theoretically possible for invertebrates to have a conductive exoskeleton by, idk, eating dirt from specific places that is rich in metals or something 😅 like a reverse faraday cage)
