He was different its not about being the best or greatest... Its about the emotions he generated... The English called Argentinians as savages and defeated them in the war.. They cheated when they took down bulgrana battleship which was out of war zone.. They have cheated deceived and looted the whole world and then in the stadium of eng vs argentina 86 it was all set the pressure imagine to perform in those situations... I have seen zidane do it similarly in wc 98 finals.. But still Maradona put up a performance which was just too good to be true... He redeemed his ppl truely by that performance against England

The truth is that nobody could do with a football what Diego Maradona could do. Not Pele, not Messi, not Cruyff, not Ronaldo or anyone else you care to mention. Diego Maradona was the greatest footballer who ever lived and no one else even comes close. Argentina would never have won that 1986 World Cup without him and when he signed for the Italian club Napoli they immediately won their first ever Serie A league trophy and another a couple of years later. Despite the fact that he died 2 years ago Maradona is still regarded as a football God in both the Argentine capital Buenos Aires and in Naples, Italy. The amount of graffiti drawings of Maradona scrawled all over the walls of buildings in both places is absolutely staggering.

I am a massive Messi fan but i don't think he could have done what Maradona did under those conditions. The tackles were almost assault. The pitches were farms and sports science didn't exist. For those reasons Maradona has to be the GOAT.
