In Chinese society girls of her age would be looking for a "dui xiang 对象", a long-term partner, and there is often (though not always) considerable social/parental pressure for her to get paired up with a marriage candidate. So, true to form, the friend is quite matter-of-fact about it when it comes to acting as a potential matchmaker. How would a friend handle somethng like this in your culture?
