When given two terms find the nth term of an arithmetic sequence

👉 Learn how to find the nth term of an arithmetic sequence. A sequence is a list of numbers/values exhibiting a defined pattern. A number/value in a sequence is called a term of the sequence. An arithmetic sequence is a sequence in which each term of the sequence is obtained by adding a predetermined value, called the common difference, to the preceding term.
The formula for the nth term of an arithmetic sequence is given by An = a + (n - 1)d, where a is the first term, n is the term number and d is the common difference. We can obtain the common difference by subtracting a term from the succeeding term or if the known terms are not consecutive, we can obtain the common difference by dividing the difference of the two terms by the difference of their term numbers. Plugging the required values into the formula, we can obtain the required nth term of the arithmetic sequence.

I got a question, the teacher said we don't know the rule, but actually, you can find it through the first number of the sequence which is 5 and the difference which is 2, and then you make a list of the sequences, which is 5,7,9.....
