As someone else said, the trash of the Fusion comes from Kid Trunks and I stand on that. After watching Buu not just turn his Momma into an egg but stomp her like a roach, Goten was Locked In. Kid Trunks was a bad influence when it came to him being a good fighter.

I blame kid Trunks for how stupid and bratty the fusion always turned out. Because from what I can remember at least in the anime, Goten was really motivated to train and get stronger, when they were sent to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber after Goten witnessed that Buu turned his mom into an egg and then squashed it, so Goten became really serious about wanting to get stronger in order to get revenge, but then kid Trunks comes around asking him why he was so serious and stuff, as if witnessing your mom dying in front of you was something that you could take lightly, and then he actually talks to Goten and convinces him into the childish plan he had, where they weren't going to take the fight seriously until like the last several minutes of the fusion, which wasn't just a childish idea but it was also stupid and pretty mental too, as if Kid Trunks was so mentally challenged that he couldn't understand that the fate of the world rested on both him and Goten's shoulders, which is why Piccolo ended up doing what he did since he just became too desperate because of the stupidity of Kid Trunks, but I guess I have to be more fair, since the one who was at fault at all of this was just Goku, as the guy could have possibly done something to stop Buu, but he decided to just stall Buu and then leave the fate of the world into the hands of kids that weren't even 10 year olds, as if that was an actual good idea, and then you also have to consider that Piccolo knowing the Mafuba technique, he didn't even consider on trying it out on Majin Buu, so I guess those are the people who are truly to blame for all of that mess, and I guess you can include Vegeta too since he was the one that even allowed for Buu to wake up in the first place..

Goku and vegeta have done so many significant things in the series, future trunks did stuff for his timeline, gohan destroying cell and other moments in dbs like the tournament of power and defeating cell max, even broly is going to be playing a huge role in the series going forward. Gotenks hasn’t even done anything significant in filler arcs or in movies. It’s really a tragedy that he got done so dirty 🤦🏾‍♂️

@@713richkid I think the only other thin Gotenks did right was help take care of the undead in the 1995 Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn where Goku and Vegeta fought Janemba. I am now going over the dragon ball wiki to see if he had any fights or even appearances post Dragon Ball Z. There's a few times he shown up in Dragon Ball Super where Beerus slapped Gotenks, defuses because he couldn't take on Golden Frieza. Gotenks went Super Saiyan 3 vs Copy Vegeta, used multiple super moves and defused, and became big boned at the Cell Max Saga. Yeah this is not a good record. And skimming through the manga to read these fights only shows that wow Gotenks is just bad at this. The only person I seen who had this much potential and just floundered are the kids in the Gifted program who burned out and Megumi from JJK who spent most of the manga being possessed by Sukuna.

See, I got the impression that Gotenks wasn't actually suppose to be a "Serious" option to fight Buu, both in-universe and out. The entire thing kind of came off, to me at least, like they were desperate and trying to hold off Buu long enough by any means necessary. Like, Piccolo was so hard-up for options at that point that he had to bring in two literal kids, and have them attempt a fusion he wasn't entirely certain would even _work,_ because literally everyone else who could have fought Buu longer than ten seconds at that moment was either dead, dead and trapped in another dimension, or being upgraded specifically to fight Buu and needed more time. When you look at it with that lens over it, it kind of makes it a lot easier to swallow.

honestly, i think it just comes down to two things....first of all its because goten and trunks grew up in times of peace, and second....well at least in the anime you can blame chi-chi and bulma.....piccolo tried his best to make sure everything went smoothly, but chi-chi and bulma kept interfering and insisted the boys only trained when they felt they were ready, and in general just didnt seem to take the threat of majin buu seriously enough.

I completely forgot Gotenks lost to Fat Buu. 2wice. Even though the fusion time ran out, that’s still a loss. We know they would’ve lost to Fat Buu as an SSJ. Bcuz SSJ Goku & SSJ Majin Vegeta are weaker than Perfect Cell & Super Perfect Cell. Only SSJ2 Goku & SSJ2 Majin Vegeta are Stronger than SSJ2 Teen Gohan. This means before they received training and after they got training in the hyperbolic time chamber to get stronger. SSJ Gotenks is still far weaker than SSJ2 Teen Gohan. Gotenks does not have SS2, but he does train to get SSJ3. With that Transformation, this is the only time Gotenks becomes Stronger than Fat Buu, & equal to Super Buu. The reason why I’m going so hard, is because the goal thanks Vance as well as the Gohan fans always put Gotenks above Goku when they never mention that Gotenks was nowhere near stronger than the weakest version of Majin Buu, Fat Buu. And to make matters worse, they try to scale Goku to equal fat boo when Goku is massively above him at the SSJ3 level, heavily suppressed, mind you. Gotenks does not surpass SSJ2 Teen Gohan, SSJ2 Majin Vegeta, Fat Buu & Heavily Suppressed SSJ3 Goku, until he himself transforms into an SSJ3 at his Maximum Power Level. Not only that, Gotenks was never going to defeat Super Buu. Here’s the evidence to support that statement. Super Buu was Never afraid of SSJ3 Gotenks. This means even if he had not defused, SSJ3 Gotenks lacked the Power to kill Super Buu. Why? You have to be Massively Overwhelmingly Exceedingly Stronger than any version of Majin Buu to kill them. If not, they will regenerate due to their magic hax ability. Gotenks gained the Power to defeat Fat Buu. But not Super Buu. Don’t get it twisted, SSJ3 Gotenks can contend wit em, he can give ‘em a darn good fight. But he cannot defeat Super Buu. That is made very clear with Gohan. Super Buu & Super Buu + Piccolo was deathly afraid to fight Goku & Gohan. The context is either confidence shown in their facial features or fear shown in their facial features. One denoting the advantage and power they have over their opponent. The other denoting the fear, the Power advantage their opponent has over them. In reference to every version of Majin Buu.

Gotenks is a complete fraud in the Buu saga! "No." Gotenks has never won a single fight in the entire franchise. (This fusion child's a fraud at life). Most of the big bads have had more wins than Gotenks. Hell, even their henchmen have a bigger winning streak than Gotenks. My favorite character in Dragon Ball is Vegeta, when he self-destructed, and it looked like Gohan was to become the main character I thought Kid Trunks (or Gotenks) would become Gohan's rival (but not as evil as Vegeta and get some wins like becoming a respectable king of the saiyans that both Gohan and Goten would bow in respect to and follow into battle, but no Gotenks has to become a gag character and a week gag character at that.
