Answer 2 was much stronger than answer 1. Answer 2 clearly tells your decision-making capacity is beyond your level, and also tells you to have the quality to take higher responsibility and team leader role. At the same time, it means you have the guard to take important decisions for the organization in difficult times. You are self-motivated and care about the reputation of the organization.

I have thought of an answer to the question. There are two different versions of this answer, the long version and the short version. The Long Version: When I completed my internship in college, I was tasked with helping to plan, set up and clean up an event for peace day. The event was scheduled to take place outdoors. Two days before the event occurred the weather report stated that it was supposed to rain. The plan was to have a table with all of the baked goods. Obviously we could not have that in the rain. There were no indoor locations where this activity would be an option. Therefore, it seemed as though we could not have the table with all of the baked goods on it. I spoke to my supervisor and suggested bringing a canopy and a tarp and the table with all of the baked goods could be under the tarp. When he informed me that there was not enough money in the budget for that, I informed him that I have a canopy and a tarp and would be willing to donate it to the school. I made sure to bring the tarp and canopy the day before the event, so that my supervisor could inspect it and see it if it suitable for its intended purpose. On the day of the event, I helped set up the canopy. We made sure to do that before the rain started. The result is that the the table with all of the baked goods was kept dry. The other people who were tasked with working the event appreciated my donation. The short version: When I did my internship in college, we did an outdoor event for Peace Day. We planned to have a table with baked goods on it, but the weather predicted rain. I called around to indoor venues but none were available and there was not enough money in the budget for a covering. I brought a tarp and canopy from home and donated it to the school. The team was happy that the event was able to precede as planned. Does that sound like a good answer? If so, which version sounds better, the short version or the long version?

Hi Richard, grear videos with explanation on the objectives of the interviewer. I like to check if you have met question like, “are you looking for other opportunities with other companies?” And how do you think and reply such questions?

I would personally always answer that by saying "No, this is the only company I want to work for."

Honestly, I liked the first answer better. It seemed like you took a lot longer to answer in the second option. I almost felt like you were searching for words to say or like you were stalling. I thought there were details that were not necessary. I only say that because I was looking at this video as an example to show my students for my Comm. class Interview Unit. High schoolers wouldn't last long listening to the second answer. Now, that isn't just a teen thing. Obviously, employers would intentionally pay attention in the interview, but your pace seemed off. I kept finding myself saying get to the point or using my hands to make that speed it up gesture. I wonder if that is because of how the answer seemed to drag with the pacing of your words. Just my thoughts. Either way, I loved the information in this video, and I definitely will show it to my students!!!

Hey I have an interview coming up and it's going to be heavy competency base questioning do you think they will ask relevant questions to my cv that the information I provided on the including strenghts and past experiences? Also questions related for the job description? So I should prioritise these areas ?
@CareerVidz3 жыл бұрын
Yes I think they will. I also think they will focus on the job description.
@emmajiang77823 жыл бұрын
Hey Richard, thanks for the great video. I think example 1 is possibly better; 2nd example - too much irrelevant details, a bit verbose, can be hard for interviewers to grasp as they may not know the business well.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, glad you liked option one 😊

Dear Richard, I would like to submit one comment for both examples and please review if you could include it in any future revised videos of your brilliant examples: ''I took the X or Z initiative with fully respect to the procurement policy of my company''. This is due to the fact that both initiatived referred to change of the (selected or usual) supplier because they were not able to deliver on time.
