When the iPhone X came out, I put my iPhone 8 for sale on eBay, when it sold, the name on the card and the package addressee did not match, so I googled the address. There was a "review" for the address (which was a store) which said "these people are scammers associated with the Russian mafia". So, instead of the phone, I sent a whole bulk of deposit sheets inside the box, including a tracking number. Some days after I get an angry message from the "buyer". I played it off and answered : "but, the tracking info says you did receive the package". In response I got threats, so i screenshot the messages, sent them to eBay support and they closed his account. I managed to keep the phone and the money. Yup, I scammed the scammer.

I got involved in a love scam that spanned a year. Fortunately I didn't lose much money. The women I was messaging with wasn't very good at her job and did come clean at one point and gave me a behind the scene look of the operation. What surprised me was that she was working out of an decent size office in China that operated much like a legit business. Pig butchering is a full scale industry in some parts of the world. These days, if we can't meet in person. I'm not going to have a relationship with you. Oh on a side note I met her on a paid dating service. These scammers are willing to make investments to get the bag.

In trading there is a saying "Bulls make money, Bears make money. But pigs get slaughtered." This was the context I interpreted the "pig butchering scam" having come across the term doing my due diligence on a product a tinder match was trying to put me on to. They were willing to play the long game and put in all the emotional work to convince you they were legit, only mentioning the crypto investment after days of messaging and flirting. The definition of pig butchering I came across was more referring to a con that is efficacious because of it playing on human greed than any romance specific manipulation. Shocked to learn that it's so lucrative though. I do remember being vastly disappointed that "she" was not real though and did second guess myself for days after...

I just got threatened by a gentleman from Ghana in my apartment yesterday while at the same time he was asking for sex. He claims his job is working with chemicals (Acid). They groomed me with the movie breaking bad. Is it coincidences that I sat next to an old lady with a raisin face who filled my head with her online dating adventures starting from May to the end of Nivember? She claimed to have researched and found her online date was from Ghana. She also stated that if I ever speak up about a scammer they would go after my bank account. So if this is not an online cry out for help from white hats, then call me stupid. Also, from about 2016 to 2021 I worked for a gentleman who lived up the canyon. I did light housekeeping for him. He dated a girl online from Ghana. Not sure how many cries out for help I need to put out there before I end up dead.

I guess the WHOIS records of any registered DNS should NOT be private by default for transparency purposes. Also, look at the registration date of the DNS of both sites. If it looks like it is just recently registered, it is a major red flag.

Just because theft and fraud has taken place, and yes those things are bad, are the scammers actually responsible for your further decisions in response?
