Recovery is not a bed of roses, but its worth it. Drugs was my first and only true love. I loved drugs more than anyone or anything in my life. I gave 17 yrs of my life to drugs and addiction but then came a time when I had to let go of my true love. Life had become too toxic and I was dying slowly because of my love for drugs. I kept chasing that high which was long gone. I kept on going and I relapsed many times even after I came to recovery. The crisis was too much and I had hit my rock bottom. But like they say, my rock bottom was the best foundation to build my recovery. It was very hard and it is still very hard but life is much better without the use of drugs. The crisis that I face in recovery sometimes is tougher than the crisis I faced in addiction but I chose life, hope and myself over drugs, lies and death. Recovery is a daily battle and it's hard for a person like me to face the world without the help of Drugs, but its better and it's worth it. I'm grateful to be alive today and happy today. I identify with you Amos bro. The 12 steps program just works for us. Just for today. Keep coming back.
