They are all great! Just pick the one YOU like. For me , True skates seem weird and different to me so I don't buy them. Nothing wrong with them just not for me. Been on BAUER and CCM back and forth for a few decades playing competitive hockey now beer league . I just left CCM Ribcor to BAUER Mach because CCM just didn't hit the mark "right now" for me. Its all just what YOU like and what is available at the time of purchase to fit your needs.

If you are on top, like bauer was, your development steps are small. That's normal. CCM skates were (till FT4) not as good, as bauer's. With FT4 and now AS-V/FT6 they closed the gap. That's why improvements were huge. True's first retail skates (TF) were cool, but too special, not for mass market. The Cat line is much better... with many small problems, (holders, bend steel, reliability). I expect the new CAT next years to be really a game changer. If they'll manage to solve all the small problems and make the boot more durable.

@@smileyduck I can tell you bar none of I'm paying the price that CCM or Bauer wants for their top end or mid-high end, I'm still going with True. Fit is better, but now that CCM is copying the wrap around the ankle boot design eh maybe I go back to CCM. Still I'd rather stick to a company who innovated skates vs just competing with the other monopoly big company over miniscule design differences just to grab a few customers away from the other guy. Maybe now their learning their lesson as they see a company like True taking skates away at the professional level. But yes they have much bigger budgets to give pros free equipment and sponsor $$ to wear their gear, obviously that plays massive role

As a novice, my choices were quickly narrowed by fit, price, performance, availability, and advice. I landed on the Bauer M3 over Vapor (some sales said these would both be too stiff for a beginner but I want to advance/not be limited by base models). CCM and True supposedly have a more forward lean that may not be ideal for a first timer (sales advice). Also, none in stock in my width. I think that innovation lies in making the sport accessible to all levels of players and to allow them to progress/perform on an individual level.
@DimitriBecker Жыл бұрын
forward lean is smallest by ccm holders, bauer being midle and true is biggest. something about 11° ccm, 12° bauer and 13° true

Skates are in a really interesting place currently. True’s SVH skates are the best. No argument. Having a skate built your specific foot is going to make it the best product available. From a retail perspective though I feel like the changes between all skates have been less and less noticeable lately. IMO it’s True, CCM, Bauer for the innovation in skates. For the biggest copycat, it has to be CCM. The skate fit system, 3d printed helmets, stick naming scheme, and quick change holders are all new things CCM has introduced in the past few years that had already been done before by other companies. Bauer is experimenting the most on a retail level imo with the carbonlite steel and new holder, regardless if they flop (like that steel did). All this said, this copying definitely is best for the sport. I’m sad some of the best innovations (like STX’s Halo gloves) have been overshadowed but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them inspire other companies in the future
@brianphilippoi349 Жыл бұрын
The thing I don't get about Halo gloves is, what use is there for more segments in a piece for the number of joints it covers? It's the same with the 3-piece elbow or flexing knee cap on shin pads. That's not how the body is built or how it works. Gloves need a healthy dose of innovation, but Halo doesn't seem like the right direction in my opinion.
@sand_is_greaney Жыл бұрын
@@brianphilippoi349 I have a pair and honestly it’s hard for me to wear more traditional segmented gloves now. The way the finger blocks are broken up on the Halos move far easier and the glove itself is may more light and breathes twice as well. As a first gen, they’re really good and I hope STX continues to improve them with more protection and maybe even making other cuts with the foam materials (supreme type fit or 4-rolls)
@brianphilippoi349 Жыл бұрын
@@sand_is_greaney I can see why they may kill your feel for other gloves. I'm just saying I see a better way. I don't think Halo is the evolutionary path forward for hockey glove design.

@mr.spokomaro Жыл бұрын
In my opinion Bauer was and still is best. Ccm just started coping them in last few years specially the visual design language that helped them with sales that gave them leverage to spend more money on development and bring better products and kind of compete. Do they have some of the products that stand out or are better than Bauer's ? Yes. But in my fair opinion that doesn't necessarily makes them better brand. I don't think that they can beat Bauer as brand on the whole spectrum of products just because last few years were good for them. True has good products too unfortunately due the lack of sales can't bring the prices down.
@mikeva4127 Жыл бұрын
True? Really? All they did was come up with a retail offering. They have one foot mould for all the retail lines which is useless unless you're exactly that. So, a vapor or jetspeed user, traditionally a narrower foot has no option in the True retail space. That's not innovative, it's actually a step backwards. Bauer and CCM are will aware that feet aren't a standard width or volume!
@mattm1296 Жыл бұрын
Well True offer regular and wide widths so that’s two molds right there. Then they do the Pro custom line which is essentially what CCM and Bauer customs offer followed by the full SVH customs which no other manufacturer does. Didn’t Bauer state that half of skaters fit into their Fit2 (regular) skates when they announced the fit system? Regardless, even with 3 different fits, it doesn’t mean a certain skate will fit your foot. Best thing to do is try everything on; every line, every brand, all the sizes to find what works for YOUR foot. At the end of the day, more options from more companies is a good thing
@mikeva4127 Жыл бұрын
@@mattm1296 I think you missed the point... Yes, they do have a wide foot mold as well. The point was that they don't offer anything to the lower end of average to narrow unless you want to go with the SVH custom. That's a lot of skaters that are completely missed.

@@chaseselinger9896 Problem with the tuuk is that it's way too soft and drops steel. JRZ is widely regarded at the pro level to be the best steel in the industry- It's not even close. The team in Winnipeg works closely with JRZ and a reason why they offer it for their skates.
