@@ethan6160slope the ground to drain away from the house. Not sure where this is but it looks fairly arid. Is it mostly surface water causing you problems or subsurface?
@neilfromclearwaterfl81

Ditto on the need for a perforated drain pipe with a solid bottom to flow any water that gets in there out and safely away into a swale or dry well/leach field. They probably don't have as much of a mildew problem as we have here however a leach drain will help limit how much water the blue barrier will be fighting with and that gravity drain will often eliminate any need for a sump pump inside. In really wet locations I will sometimes put a similar drain under the slab inside the foundation. I know belt and two pairs of suspenders but its better than the alternative. Only house on the block that didn't have or need a sump pump. BTW: Was that a Neapolitan Mastiff we got a glimpse of? Best!

Oaker;I changed the auto trans for a buddy,in his 1980 Pinto,on my wheel ramps, using a 2'x2'- 3/4" plywood piece,3-50lb sandbags,a 1-1/2 ton Bottleneck jack,and the bare basic ratchet set and open end wrenches.The replacement was Bad,so we had to pull it back out,and wait 14 hours for the salvage yard to open,and had 7 hours left to finish and have the shop he'd borrowed clean and ready for business the next day.That didn't make me sweat as bad as you guys were.Well done team.

Hey there, my 1st ever comments here, discovered Fab Rats and binged the whole lot so was super stoked to find your channel! Get to keep my fix n fab going! So, had a thought when you guys were struggling lifting that transmission up off the floor, perhaps a couple of wratchet straps (thats what we call them in the UK, i was a trucker for many years) lay them on the floor, slide the tranny on it then loop the straps up through the cab and tighten up as far as you can go, should make that initil heave a tad easier plus a good safety net if things go pear shaped! Love the vids and content, the gangs a hoot to watch FYI :)

By what I see of how your property is graded near the house, the slope indicates that the rain water drains down the hill toward the house. A French drain will redirect the runoff around the house and prevent the water from entering the lower floor.

Did you build some cisterns and connections to your imagined pond....? That would help alot.....to run the water offf....away from the house I only say this because rock, plàstic, and a "lift" does not always cure this problem.....people like to plant and tend to dig out their "lift" away from the house to plant 2' in their side yard............ As a landscape designer who greŵ up in the desert , we fought this all the time....... we also ran our water lines along this " lift" as well.... on the inside and on the top side of the manhole connections.... and their connections to minimize the flooding of the "lift"...it is expensive to do ìt that way but in the desert, you can always bòil water or prevent back flooding into your house by doing it this way. It is for private use only......and you own the land.....there should be no issues unless you are hooked up to city wells and sewer.....

Why hasn't Oaker been spotted by a movie talent scout? he has the smouldering looks of the better films stars. great line "all i can see is tetanus" I envy Ben working with two great kids. Why don't you just put guttering along the edge of the roof and a down pipe and send it away from the house? much cheaper and definitely easier than what you have done and no more flooding worries as the water never gets anywhere near the house once it comes off the roof.
