Thank you for this video. I'm 4 months into Long Covid. I had done cold showers in past years and found benefit from it (boosted mood, energy, confidence). I recently tried it for three days and it seemed to make things worse: increased shortness of breath and chest tightness. Maybe I'll revisit it when I'm feeling better. I do think it has a place, but it seems to be something to be careful with if you're in the midst of bad Long Covid symptoms.

I was starting to feel normal from Long Covid around Sept last year and then I started taking 5min cold showers each day for 2 weeks, I then suddenly fell very ill.... I felt great for those 2 weeks, but then I lost the ability to deal with the cold... I could not get warm, I would shake, low mood, no energy,, all the way up to Christmas. My torso at times can be very cold to touch at times, yet my body temp looks normal, as does my Thyroid... a few weeks ago my Cortisol BT came back as just below normal, so Im going for a Adrenal Gland test soon.. though my Sodium and Potassium are normal as well, so I think my AGs will be ok.... I hope... but Im still none the wiser with whats going on...

It can take a long time to recover Dante, as you know! And the pacing of introducing activities which induce a little stress can be so frustratingly slow!! It could be an adrenal thing but it also sounds like mitochondrial dysfunction with the inability to produce enough energy to generate warmth.. Both systems however will be affected by any underlying inflammation so hunting down what is contributing to that helps the adrenals and mitochondria to start working efficiently..

@@drjamie_drjudith Thanks for replying Jamie! I have some good news :) Firstly, my Synacthen test was normal. Though I had head pain in the afternoon from it but the next day my body temp felt good and normal.. I had a few good days. I also saw a different doctor who thinks I may have had some kind of Mito Dys since day 1. But more interestingly, I may have caught a tummy bug a few weeks back for a few days. And since then, all my LC symptoms have vanished and I feel almost normal. They did return for a few days, but they were very short lived and minor. My sleep has deteriorated a little, but apart from that, almost as new. Though I am wondering how long the mitochondria will take to heal?

When do you know if you've healed enough to start with the cold showers? I'm still stressed out although the infection was nine months ago. The shower gave me a headache. Does this mean I'm not in that phase yet?

@@anoniem11258 I would strongly advise not trying the cold shower therapy route. I think that's what nearly put me in hospital. What people don't tell you is that, only healthy individuals should do cold showers.. if your body is already fighting an infection, especially something as serious as long covid, then the last thing you want to do is stress it out further... my biggest improvement happened 7 weeks ago.. I started seeing a Chinese medicine Dr... who has been doing acupuncture and draining my neck lymph glands and this has helped massively... in any severe illness your lymph glands can stall or get clogged up.. and if the microclots caused by long covid is true (which Im sure it is given the scientific evidence) then these clots could be slowing down your lymph system... which is a big driver for how efficient your immune system works...

Don’t back off of cold therapy… Once the anxiety from long Covid wears off for about a month or two, start cold water immersion.. Don’t let FEAR keep you from healing.. You WANT autophagy and old mitochondria die off.

Yep it definitely has it's place, like you said, once things are a bit more under control and you can take on a little more stress it's a good thing to introduce steadily!
