Not being attached to the form one is free to assume formlessness... So one never abandons the form. Rather, one abandons their attachment to the form... An analogy may suffice. I love my mother dearly as only a child can... when she is older and needs me to be an adult to help her, do I run to her breast to show the undying form a child's love has for his mother? or do I lose the attachment to her as a child, to act on her behalf as an adult?
