Personally I like running in the MIDDLE of the day the best. I usually get up, do some work for a few hours until my concentration starts to dwindle and then go for a run. That run acts like a reset button for me and once I'm home and showered I can easily crank out a few more hours of work, feeling completely fresh. I have the luxury of working from home, so this of course doesn't work for everyone, but for me it's perfect.

I used to run at lunch break. Soon other people would want to join in. Within a couple of years it would be a crowd. Then I would go hide and change my running program making poor excuses of why I wasn't running at lunch any longer. On the other hand running at lunch makes lots of great contacts.

I occasionally do a fasted run in the morning, but that is rare. Most of my runs (and rides) are done right before lunch as I can go from work. When we were able, I would do 2 nights a week running with my clubs, rain, shine, hail, sleet or snow.

I do a lot of my runs in the mornings, but I mostly prefer running in the early evening. The only catch is, it's hard to run in the dark without being stressed over the possibility of tripping over something, so I have to time my run so that it ends right after sunset. That said, in my experience, few things beat having the sun rise or set in the middle of your run.

In the morning, my muscles feel like they are made of wood, takes a few hours to loosen up properly. That said, exercise can achieve that, i just wont be setting any PBs :) The flipside can be true for the evening as well, day fatigue and being sat at a desk for hours also doesnt help, but i tend to perform better in the eve. The most optimal is perhaps mid-afternoon, time to let lunch settle, and also loosen up!

I used to be 100% a night owl, but since covid, the only time I can get a pool session is 5am so I have been getting up at the same time every day for routine. This meant switching to morning runs and I'm sold on them. There's something special about a crisp fall morning run.

Sometimes, morning is good for me when I'm doing short-moderate distance easy runs, and I can get in caffeine pre-run (via tablet). I just make sure I eat enough the night before. It just feels good to be running fasted with caffeine flowing through your system Can't do the same for caffeine in the PM.. sleep will be rekt. Then again, I'm often able to get in a good nap before my evening runs. Of course, it feels great to be running with a refreshed mind. I'm just a casual regular runner though.

I always look for advice to see if evening runs are not beneficial. I’ve been an evening runner as long as I can remember, never could get into morning runs. It takes way more time for my body and mind to wale up, so morning run is not the best thing for me. I’m semi asleep, not in the mood, wanna go back home and sleep some more. I guess I’ll stick to my evening runs and not worry about it being wrong, because thats what works for my body and as long as it works, I’m fine by that.

I like to run in the mornings, it's easier mentally to run in the mornings than it is in the afternoon and later in the day. In the summer I would set an alarm for 5 to be out the door by 6 to avoid the heat. It was a hard routine to get adjusted to but I did after about a week and it was basically neccessary. Now that its cooler I just run between 10A-12P. I'm fasted and well rested without having to force myself to wake up and I'll be home by 2 at the latest if I'm out the door by 12 depending on the run. I have ran at night and the afternoon before but running in the morning allows me to go throughout the day mentally free with a clear head and just chill in the evening without having a run glooming over my head that I know I have to go for.

If I'm working that evening, I run first thing after waking up; if I'm not working, I wait a little while, have a couple of cups of coffee, then maybe run under the cover of darkness. Actually for me and more of us comes down to logistics and if i am at an event. If it's a day I work, I either run on lunch (when at home) and/or after work. I like to run in the morning if available, but I start work at 7 a.m. so I'm just not going to get up that early to run.

I'm a shift worker week about. After Nightshift I wake at midday have an egg on toast with creamed cheese and salmon slices and run 1hr later. Afternoon shift I wake in the morning have muesli with banana, yogurt, almonds and saltanas and run 1 hour after that. Dayshift up at 3:30am and I get home at 1pm (already had lunch about 11:30am) have a coffee and run after that. Shift work makes you flexible. My preference is afternoon shift because I get the best sleep and run fresh. Worst is day shift. 3:30am wake ups and tired by the time I get home. Not to mention I sometimes ride my push bike to work 2 or 3 times a week (7km one way) in all shifts and run 6 times a week.

Morning for me. Very low energy in the afternoon and most races are in the morning so it makes sense. Not that I race anymore. Longer runs can be done weekend mornings. Quick word on fasted running if your diet is such that you burn almost only fat as fuel then you can run very easy fasted that is for low and medium intensity runs. When doing high intensity runs fasted you feel like you just miss a gear or 2 so If you plan a high intensity run then get some carbs down your neck before hand for that extra gear or 2 to hit your goals... Also good for competition day, train fasted eat carbs before competition day 👍🏻

Main obstacle for me running in the morning seem to have been my hair! ... Getting out of bed, there is zero way to just leave it as it is and go out, finally I have found the way and cut it settles alright and dry within 45 minutes, after just drenching it over the bathtub! Meanwhile, 50+, my body answers indifferently to what daytime I ask it for a rush - other people seem to be more courteous in the mornings though, seriously. Whenever possible, I will opt for a morning run, yep.

My weekends are more like to hang out with friends and eat out, Sunday is to recover and just burn extra calories.
