When I went jail first thing I was told by another inmate was ... "use your manners, mind your business, don't snitch, ride your bird calm". I thanked the officer after he closed the cell door on me. I wished them good morning. I remained polite with them, cracked the odd joke etc. I was in for white collar fraud type crime. I was put on a good wing after induction, and had a good prison record that followed me from B cat to D cat. I never had a single problem in jail and met so many people from all walks of life. Life inside is as easy as you make it. Same as life outside of jail. If you make your life hard, expect to have to battle through it. It's common sense. I seen people on the wing getting a slap for paying tobacco back late. I was late paying back tobacco a few times with the same guy; but he was calm with me because we got on. Treat people with respect. Inside it doesn't matter what you done on the outside, everybody is equal (except VP wingers). Don't walk in jail with your roadman hat on because you'll be knocked down the ladder very quickly. That don't mean you shouldn't stand your ground; do so if you have to. Many people have a complex about prison officers, and police officer. Listen ... you do the crime, accept the punishment and don't go causing drama along the way. Peace.

@J P ive seen you comment on a few of these so i think i’ll ask you because you seem like you’ve genuinely done time. i’ve never been to prison, i don’t live a life that could quickly land me in prison. i also don’t see myself doing anything worthy of being in prison but..it has always petrified me. the thought of going, see i have a facial disfigurement. i lost most of my top lip at birth and my nose is rather big. i have clef lip but i was lucky enough to have treatment early, so mine doesn’t look as bad as others now i’m older. it’s not major, it’s not completely obvious but it’s there. that would be a hindrance on me inside wouldn’t it? i’d be singled out and bullied all for that? i could just imagine it being torturous. i’m not disabled, i’m not socially challenged. i just have a little bit of a fucked up face hahahaha. not sure if you have the answer or not but thanks for taking your time in reading this
