This thread!!! I can relate, Mamamoo is just so amazing. They don't rely only on their good looks, but skill too. They're really defining the word 'performers'. Because I've seen KPop fans defending their idols' lack of skill and said "she/he might not be able to sing or dance well but you just can't take your eyes off of them. That's a true performer." and honestly that triggered me so much lol. No wonder in the kpop industry nowadays it's a tough competition, everything is about having a pretty face, thin body (or else you'll be fat-shamed duh), and a cutesy personality. I'm so glad they're going bigger and bigger now, knowing how they make everything by themselves: music and choreography (even with the helps of choreographers and ceo and other composers). And honestly I think that's one of the many reasons their live stages are so enjoyable: they're not just there to perform, they're there to have fun and we got happiness from seeing them. Now that's a true performer.

ikr.....i thought ggs were all 'rainbows and cotton candy' by what i'd seen so far so I wasn't really interested. and then one day, I saw Mamamoo's '1cm' on my YT recommendations and decided to give it a listen. I was confused at 1st and then I watched their live stages and there were so charismatic and funny. So I looked up more of their stuff and I was mind blown because there were the weirdest bunch of girls i'd seen in kpop....they were loud, perverted..as opposed to the poised, elegant image of most girl groups. I like groups that are loud and silly so I naturally gravitated towards Mamamoo. it wasn't until the 'Yes I am' comeback that i finally decided to become a moomoo....the lyrics were so inspiring.

again, no group does no work. sure there are big companies but usually , big companies means more rules and less freedom. that said, i absolutely love what mamamoo stands for. they're great artists, they've got wonderful personalities, and thankfully, they're permitted to do what they want creatively, atleast much more than other groups. whatever group you judge harshly because you may dislike their music or the label they're from, i'm sure they've put just as much hard work into their debut and success, except what they're permitted to show is much stricter than this. objectively speaking, there are numerous vocalists of higher skill than mmm in many gg's , not being able to show their potential because others in the group don't share the skill.

@@nisah2241 I'm quite surprised you ask this, kpop has been around for quite a while you see, and it's (in the most crude sense) manufacturing pretty faces with potential to become their own cookie cutter representative of their agency. jung eunji, luna, wendy, taeyeon, uji, hyorin, raina, lina (in idol groups, there are more soloists, duets) are quite better with their techniques in some way. that means out of the several categories it objectively grades them based on their performances so far. so it's not fixed and can surely improve over time. again, not to say solar and wheein are far behind, which they're not.

My guess is because Solar is one of the few Kpop leaders that have real life work experience. She was a flight attendant and had to meet a lot of people, thus trained her people skills. It’s hard to develop people skills when everyone around you is also a trainee of a similar background

Decalcomanie choreo was 98% made by them,... on the music they are credited a lot for writing the lyrics esp on the title tracks along with their CEO KDH ofcaurse (the mastermind behind all of their title tracks),... they are crideted for composing on few of their tracks,...They also make a lot of their melodies but it is not something to be credited for.

In my opinion, many popular GG earns a lot of money from CFs and photoshoot but Mamamoo had a few photoshoots (i saw they got photoshot only in UOAY era) and a certain numbers of CFs ( im not sure how many cfs now but it may not as many as YTB eras). I was surprised how much one university festival costs but i am really happy for Mamamoo cuz they really deserve their hardwork :) I saw they sang 4-5 songs for an event and they performed like 3 events a day, they really work hard :D

Mamamoo always give their 110% when they perform. I always forget that it's their job because you can clearly see that they're enjoying each performances and I rarely see that to other idols tbh. not all, but the bulk of it definitely. hwasa mentioned 15-16 festivals in may 2017 when they appeared in hello counselor (and still counting too since may hadnt actually finished yet), which is a lot considering how most festivals fall on the weekend. Because it is not about being the best and winning tonnes of awards, you need to last, and this industry has shown us that it can swallow a group that seemed super-famous in no time.
