There are times being a hero isn't worth risking your life. I see two people fighting in the street, I'm not getting involved. They're grown, just let them sort things out while trying to kill one another. Also these store workers should know better than to chase after a shoplifter with no telling if they are armed. Believe me I get it, something serious is happening and there comes this overriding need to jump in to assist someone in distress, deescalate a situation or right a wrong. Even I have felt it. But sometimes before going into hero mode we have to look before we leap.
