They used to play Candle Mass on Head Bangers ball every so often. Thats how I heard of them Queensryche are amazing and Operation Mindcrime is one of their best IMO and most successful live stadium tours for sure. Savatage are also amazing, Crappy video clips but really good music IMO and when Savatage finally made it big with Edge of Thorns, Criss Oliva the Guitarist died in a Car accident, got hit by a drunk driver :( He was one of my favs for a while. Mix of Eddie Van Halen and Randy roads. Yngwie Malmsteen Funny fact the singer in the clip is not the actual singer. Jeff Scott Soto was the singer but he either got kicked out of the band for a short period or pulled out of the tour and filming of this video? and they just got a random tech to fill in. PS please do more of these videos!!!!

Jonas Åkerlund also made the movie Lords of Chaos released in 2018 about the Norwegian band Mayhem. Yeah. Michael Angelo Batio. Back in the 80s Ozzy mentioned in an interview the video demo MAB sent him while he was looking for Jake’s replacement. Ozzy wasn’t exactly a fan. But MAB still travels around the country giving clinics while dressed in his black-buckled suit and jet-black wig.

Nitro were probably the most talented "bad" band of all time. Jim Gillette's vocal capabilities were absurd, and Michael Angelo Batio...well, everyone knows about his skill with an axe. Yet clearly that chemistry didn't translate to much excellence in the studio. I think I remember in their Kickstarter video from a few years ago (trying to crowdfund a new album with the help of Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler) they mentioned something about the awful production values of their debut album "O.F.R." that they weren't exactly in control of. Better production alone might've saved that album.

S.A.D.O. - Gamblin' Fool (this one would not fly today, they would get ultra-cancelled and convicted for sexual assault) Mötley Crüe - Looks That Kill (absolutely ridiculous with those caged women) Dio - Holy Diver (but pretty much any of their '80s videos tbh) Lionheart - Die For Love (cheesy like the blue cheese kind, jeez) Black Sabbath - Zero The Hero (and people thought the album cover for its album "Born Again" was bad...) Ozzy Osbourne - The Ultimate Sin (although quite terrible on all levels, at least Ozzy seems to enjoy himself by being a total goofball) Venom - Nightmare (I'm lost for words on this one)

I'm about these guys' age. Maybe a couple of years older. Also grew up just a few hours south of them. And I was a metal head, just like them. Back then, I ended up signing up for the Columbia House deal, where you get like 12 tapes for 1 cent. Then they send you stuff every month. One of the cassettes that I got was Krokus "Headhunter". It had Eat The Rich and Screaming In The Night. I liked those songs back in the day. I also had "Ballroom Blitz". It had the title song, and Midnight Maniac. There was a beef between Dee Snider and Krokus back in the day. Dee's wife created costumes for Krokus, but they refused to pay her.

Dudes, obviously y'all know who Yngwie Malmsteen is. He's one of the best ever. Yeah, he hams it up, but he put neoclassical on the map. He was influenced by Blackmore and Uli Jon Roth, but he took it to the next level. You can hear his influence in many of the Shrapnel artists.... Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine, Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker. As for the I'll See The Light Tonight video, that's actually Mark Boals in the video. But the song was sung by Jeff Scott Soto. Boals joined at the end of the Marching Out tour, and sang on the next (Trilogy) album. He re-recorded this song, but management just ran with Soto's vocals on the video, so it looks kind silly. if you get a chance, check out Hear'N'Aid Stars video. It's like a We Are The World, but metal. It was led by Ronnie James Dio, and features a Who's Who of metal back in 1985. Yngwie also plays on that, and he crushes it. Him and Geoff Tate are the standouts on that song. According to George Lynch, everybody was chasing Yngwie. That's why they're all playing over the top on that song. e.g. see Neal Schon's solo.

Decades ago me and my friends got to meet Nitro. They were playing at a small local club, but their equipment never showed up. So, the band was just hanging around talking to people. The lead singer Gillette had this briefcase he was carrying with him. He said that he couldn't open it and if he did he'd have to kill us, because there were things inside it we shouldn't know about. Then he picked up my friend up over his head and carried him around for a long while. Then later, my female friend went with the lead guitarist, Michael Angelo, to his hotel room with him. They left in his limo. Strange, but good times.

Man, y'all bagging on Nitro too. I think I had one of their CDs, and yeah, it kinda sucked overall. But, their guitarist is one of the most famous ever. Michael Angelo Batio, he had an instructional video called Speed Kills. He also had a Star Licks video. Supposedly, John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Michael Romeo (Symphony X) and Dimebag Darrell (Pantera) all claimed to have been influenced by (learned from) his instructional videos. He is kinda robotic, but he does have one of the cleanest techniques ever. And he seems like one of the nicest guys in the world. HIs quad guitar got stolen one night when they were on tour. They also appeared as guests on Headbangers Ball back in the day, when Adam Curry was hosting the show. The lead singer is Jim Gillette. He was married to Lita Ford back in the day. He also sold an instructional video, and he could supposedly shatter glass with his voice.
