I think the mm2 testing server went open for people to test and report bugs. For example, a lot of things have changed in the game, so the devs might have wanted a little help to test bugs while they were working on stuff

I have a theory. So the testing server has been updating a lot recently and is even publicly open. The last time it was open for this long was season 1 testing, and with the new duels modes and ui revamps, its possible that this could be a season 2 update potentially, also considering the fact that nstudio2 should be released at some point.
