Every time I call it back, it just looks at me blankly and runs straight to my neighbor’s house, wagging its tail like they’re the one who raised it. Before I could even process what’s happening, my neighbor is picking it up like it’s their own child and even giving it cookies… Meanwhile, I'm standing outside holding the leash, eyes red from being rejected! 😂 And so, I, the "food provider," am just left watching my dog live its “romantic” life with my neighbor. In my past I used to surprise my father’s dogs by walking into his property without them knowing, sneaking around back then crawling in thru a dog door(Rhodesian ridgeback) and surprising the dogs from behind. Dogs recognize whenever humans do dog things and they particularly like it

We installed one of those so our dog could let us know if she wanted to go outside. We had to disconnect it as she decided it was a “can I speak to the manager” bell and would ring it over and over again to complain about things like not being allowed to eat our dinner 😂

I have the special honor of being the 'neighbor' to my neighbors Cane Corso and he is just the sweetest boy ever! He goes into total zoomies and jumping in circles when he sees me and it's the best feeling ever! 🥰 (yes he's the size of a small horse but trying to stay alive during all the love is part of the fun!)

Almost knocked me down the stairs one day--which would have definitely been a disaster--when we were playing; I learned a VERY valuable lesson that day. But honestly, I love that wonderful dog so much that even if I'd gone down I would not have blamed him, he meant me no harm. Just have to be realistic.

Back in the 60’s I lived in a neighborhood where people who had dogs let them run loose including us. My Golden had a name tag with name and phone number on her collar. My Golden would go on Sunday to the local church near my house and wait for the people. Now and then, if our mailman saw her he would call us and say he will be dropping her off sometime during his route.

I was around in those days too, and it was great to let our dog enjoy his freedom without worrying about the dog catcher. He was an awesome, well-behaved boy who was very protective toward us, but never showed aggression until a dog down the road came after my brother on his motor scooter; that was NOT a good idea!

I had a Blue Heeler x Shepherd many years ago, who loved playing with the kids in my street. Some of them would knock on my door after school and ask if Sharka could come out to play, and they always brought her home when they had to go in for dinner. 😊

I was a meter reader for the electric company. One time, this little Beagle type dog followed me from the bottom of the hill in a housing plan to the top. When I was done, I put him in the truck and took him back home. I bet his owner never knew that he was gone. 😆

UPS drivers are famous for the dogs on their routes that they love and interact with every time they come by--bringing treats for all of them in some cases. I love it!!

This love between humans and animals is a beautiful miracle, and I believe God is telling us something very important. LOVE truly is the driving force in our world, because it comes straight from the Creator--the same One who created us, created the animals too, and he knew we would need this precious gift while we're going thru the times we're in. I thank God for the animals and the incredible experiences we are blessed with when we open up to one another with trust.

Lived in a townhouse apartment once. My dog was friendly with our human neighbors, but hated the cat next door. That cat was reserved and aloof with non family members, except me. As long as my dog wasn't around the cat would socialize a little with me. After we moved away, I was in contact with those neighbors a few times. Some years later they told me that their cat had passed away. I know that some cats can be jerks, but this cat was definitely not one of those. He was nice, but being reserved, he had boundaries. I understood that and respected his boundaries, so we got along, in spite of my dog not liking him. When 2 animals don't like each other, never try to force them to become friends. It will backfire terribly by making them hate each other even more. This also applies to human relationships. You can't force people to like each other, but you can insist that they be polite and civil when they must be together. I know for a fact that being p & c works, as I have used it a lot in my life.😊

"Time to do some sketchy shit, do dah, do dah." Mine sing this song all the time. Oh, the memories you have brought back. My dog from the 90s was named Rosie, and she was best buds with the neighbor' and their kids. They would invite her over to swim in their pool. When their toddler was about 3 (I think, he was verbal and mobile, he could have been a bit older) his parents put the arm floats on him while they were there to watch. So they invite us and Rose over. After a while my neighbor lady put the "swimmies" on the toddler. And he promptly jumped into the pool. Well Rosie to the rescue, she was used to him being held by a parent and jumped in after him. She grabbed him by the arm float and dragged him to the pool stairs. The whole time he was bopping her on the head and yelling "she's bitin' my swimmies, she's bitin' my swimmies!" It wasn't a big pool and there really wasn't anything we adults could do with Rosie's 2m swim to shallow water. Jimmy was pissed. Rose got high praise for "saving" the toddler. And from then on I brought a leash for swimmie time.

We had an elderly lady four doors down who allowed my sister to keep her horse in her backyard while she was at school , mainly to keep her grass down. Our dogs would go along and took a liking to the lady. We started noticing two dogs running out of her yard down to ours as our car turned into the street, they would be lazing on the doorstep as we pulled up, then enthusiastically greet us as if they had been waiting all day. One day Mum asked the lady about it, the dogs visited her everyday, barking to let her know they were at the door. She would open the door to them but only the female would go in and keep her company through the day, while the male always stayed outside. He would bark once when any of us entered the street and the female would rush to the door to be let out. Still have no idea how he knew, there was no clear line to see the corner, the bark would come before any of us walked or drove around the corner.

This is hilarious because this happens to me all the time. Neighbors on my left have dogs who come running over (through a hole in our fence the moment they hear my house door opening or see me outside). On my other side, my neighbors girlfriend brings her cat to his house. Again, if it hears me coming outside the door it runs over to greet me. Brings joy and a smile to my day. Best part is I can visit with em, spoil em but not have to raise em! LoL. They are awesome little critters.

Lol reminds me of Bentley. He was my neighbor's black lab. Sweet but dumb as a post 😅. Me, my mom, a friend Ken and his owner Mark where all hanging out in the alley talking. When it was time to go home Mark tried calling him, but Bentley would not obey! Just for lols I yelled " Come here handsome!" That dog got up and ran straight to me🤣 .Mark just looked flabbergasted. We live near a lake and the neighbors who live up the road, about 2 miles from lake, their basset hound would go to the lake a ride around on boats with total strangers. people would call them and tell them your dog is here with us. they would say just let him go and when he is done getting rides he comes home.

It's so cute my baby boy Luchen an Alaskan Malamute had so many people that would visit him where ever we lived at the time it was crazy 🖤Although the clip of the dog owner being away leaving the dog on it's own hungry makes my f*cking blood boil i have had two Alaskan Malamute's and in 13 years i spent maybe a month apart from both of them.

I lived in Alaska as a child and met my first Malamutes there; I was astounded at their size, but also their calm, friendly demeanor. They are magnificent animals, but man, you'd better be ready to provide a LOT of good food!

I have a WHITE boxer that is deaf ( remember that 76% of white boxers are deaf ) My driveway is 103 yards long. I come home at different times. 3am,4pm, 1am, 1pm, 6am , rain snow ( lots of snow) 31*or 104*, basically I never know when I will get back home. Never longer than 2 days. Every time I get home I check my mail at the end of the driveway. By the time I turn around to get back in my car my DEAF boxer is there to meet me . Basically I don’t know how he knows that I’m home. My car is not loud, ( it doesn’t matter he’s deaf ) . I drive different cars quite regularly ( I have 4 cars) . I just can’t figure out how he knows I’m home. Oh he rarely barks, if he does bark I better go see why he’s barks. Usually snakes or deer hanging around.
