Zabuza even thought Haku was stronger than him but was defeated by nine tails amped naruto. Haku completely wiped the floored with sasuke who also had the sharigan but not fully awakened to full potential. The ONLY reason zabuza and Haku lost was due to plot armor. Kishimoto wanted to convey genjutsu to us and the power that laid dormant inside naruto. They literally called Kakashi a genius/copy ninja who was by far one of the strongest jonin at that time. Put asuma on zabuza and Haku on a naruto with no nine tails and we'd be calling the show zabuza of the mist village

I'm sure someone probably already mentioned this, but kakashi did not use shadow clone jutsu here. He just used the regular clone jutsu. At this point in time. Kakashi did not have nearly enough chakra to make that many shadow clones.
