Actually Richard explained this in his last interview. When he came in, in 2002, a lot of Chinese Democracy had already been recorded so he only recorded some rythm guitar for this material. However, he said that actually wrote some of the other tracks ( that will be on the next album, if there ever is one ). I can only assume he has also played some lead on these...

Where have you been to think Chris Cornell is a nobody. Heard of Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, or Audioslave he sings for all of them, and even if he wasn't popular does it matter. All that really matters is that he sang a bad ass theme and one that was ready for a more gritty bond. Oh and Garbage was popular when that movie came out. Just cause you haven't heard of them doesn't mean they aren't popular

Garbage was very popular during that time and Chris Cornell wrote one of the BEST Bond theme songs (if not THE best) You have no idea what you're talking about.
