It means to be firm and assertive yet at the same time being patient and kind while disciplining children. So many parents out there are letting their children do whatever they want and don't discipline their children in the name of gentle parenting have completely misunderstood what gentle parenting means. I want to say “atta mom” for your thoughtful teaching of Neil. Some afternoons you maybe ready for bed by 6 PM but honestly when your son is 10 and above you will be so thankful for your discipline to follow through and teach with corrections until he learns the skill you are teaching. This is a great example of mom taking responsibility for her son.
