Beautiful shots there, especially the final moody pano. It reminded me of so many of my own shoots - especially the many miles travelled and hours, even days, spent trying for particular shots of the night sky only to find the sky did not want to cooperate.

Hi John, nice wee video. Poor boat , ive watched it through the years getting more and more wrecked. The roofs at Caol village are a nice subjct with the Ben towering above. Along the shore on the other side of the burn stacks of drift wood and almost whole trees gets washed up there, and gives lovely leading lines to the Ben. Better luck next time, but your photo are still great.....Alioban ❤

I was there on Thursday 😆 the tide was in, there was a beautiful low mist, but I didn't fancy staying till after sunset. Animal-kind had conspired against me on my way up with a huge stag in the road that I narrowly missed in the dark. Didn't wan to meet him on the way back!

Good effort John! I visited for the first time recently during that dreadful week of flat light and low cloud so my only visible subject was the wreck itself. To see the mountains at all would have been amazing.... love the wide shot and the colour palette of the boat and mountains. Its a location to visit again and many times over I think to get the best out of it.

Enjoyed your video, I too have gone out with a specific image in mind and sometimes I let it get to me when it doesn’t happen Much prefer your option of location first and explore Ps, higher tide and sunset are in sync 13&14 Dec if you plan a re-visit Andy
@JohnMcKennaPhotography9 күн бұрын
Thanks Andy! I really dont like working that way as it almost always goes wrong but i knew i was going to be in this area around sunset and i'd never shot sunset there so i gave it a go! I've got another location planned for the 14th but i'll make a point of checking when they coincide before planning my next trip!
@iainmc98599 күн бұрын
Personally, I think you were lucky that the tide was out. It does give different options from the standard shot where the other photographers were. I also think the zoomed in shots, where there's some light on the Ben, were the keepers. I don't think the stream ever adds anything to that viewpoint. Puts me in mind of something James Popsys said in one of his latest videos, that rang a bell with me, as I've been doing the same thing for years but had never encapsulated it so well. He now says he has one rule - 'Context not Complication'', complication includes old logs 😉
