Prince went Hollywood with UTCM! It was kind of inspired by and a tribute to road movies, tribute to Hope and Crosby, Dean and Martin, Abbot and Costello, you know, fun buddy comedic romps! The ladder scene is totally of that style! And, there's a hidden message in it. Even the movie is not in color. But I'll let you figure it out! I LOVED UTCM and still think, and told him, Jerome, personally, that he was terrific in that movie. Jerome's role in GB was shameful, I don't know if Prince did that to him, you know, totally took out that acting potential because he jumped to the Jam and Lewis camp. Now THAT sucks.

Like similarly the recent SOTTSDE hijacking of the Melvoins in retrospect seeing an artist being exploited by other artists who are tokenized by their owners really really bothers me today. I think it’s a great lesson in being careful but when people are in the midst of it do you get spun around in their ambition in a matter how alert you may be or how where of it to send agree many allow themselves to. It was all gratifying for prince to be "Boss" in those situations. Yeah it was wrong for lenny to take Ingrids lyrics. But prince got him back several times. Did you hear prince say in an interview that lenny had been recording with him? That was telling lenny's label on him. And prince said in the same interview that lenny is still on the plantation, when he comes up here we can do something. That had to sting. Prince was a little vindictive sometimes. Well the concept was in development since about I think 1987 or 88 as either the dawn and or later became graffiti bridge it’s worth doing a little research if you’re interested. And then now we know that Kim Basinger and prints were kind of modifying it for her but then she claimed intellectual property rights and took off with the script. How about that thieves in the Temple. So he had to sort of rush it rewrite it and make it what is a sort of ambiguous equal yes no and a repeat of the acting was kind of dry but they were moments of brilliance as always. I think that if Prince would have left the opening scenes which was a terrific or is it terrific performance by him and was dynamically shot an edited then he would’ve made more sense as a musical that it was meant to be.
