“Any Christian should be grieved by racism, injustice, and apathy toward the things that break the heart of God. This is how we talked about these things when we gathered last Saturday night. We feel like we missed an opportunity with many of our friends who only tuned in on Sunday morning, and we are grateful to encourage the many who missed it now. We believe sharing our heart is the most helpful thing for us to post today, AND we believe continuing to work together toward the unity, love, and justice our Savior died to make possible is our daily task. Join us as we continue to love kindness, do justice, and walk humbly with our Lord.”

If Jesus came back and saw all the preaching done today in his name he would purge with disgust.

I care what you post. I needed to know that church leaders of various races are passionate about what’s happening in America. So I thank you coming from North Carolina.

Thanks for this message Todd. Though I agree that empathy is important, words are the first line of defense. When your neighbor’s house is on fire, you can’t just say “I’m sorry, and I understand.” and just stand there while your neighbor is running into the fire to rescue his family. You have to run in with him. Although you said Watermark is vast in diversity, it’s hard to connect with that statement while knowing Watermark leadership is primarily white, including an entirely white team of elders. Colored people such as myself see and feel that disconnect. How are you running into the fire with us? How is Watermark running into the fire with us?

I agree with you. Yes all lives matter; immigrant children lives matter, the dehumanization of immigrants, an unborn fetus, our neighbors, black lives, white, brown ,and immigrants. These people are very selective about wich lives matter.

What about black on black persecution. Are you going to apologise for that also.

Being told that you are a helpless victim does not improve your life. It leads to anger, complacency, and a loss of hope. If I am told that I have no power to change my circumstances, why would I want to make better choices that could possibly improve my life? I wouldn’t, and I would instead blame others. But Christ came to set the captives free, to make us overcomers and more than conquerors. He died so we could reign in life. Christ came to give us life and life more abundantly. Like professors, pastors have a huge platform. They can use it to remind us of what Christ did for us, or they can use it to basically apologize for their “privilege” and play the popular game of political correctness. Being condescended to just as bad as being persecuted. Black people, like all people, are deserving of facts and truth. White guilt can help whites feel virtuous, but it does not help black people. The college professors I work with thrive off victimization, and many politicians do too. Sadly, some church leaders are bending over backward at the chance to do the same. Yes, there are a tiny percentage of bad cops who use excessive force. There is sadly an abundance of college professors who love virtue signaling to a perpetual underclass of people they have helped impoverish. And yes, there are apparently a growing number of Christian pastors who refuse to help arm our black friends with the real information that could end up being the best message they hear in a long, long time - that they are not victims and they are just as capable of anyone else at prospering in this life.
