Our days in the Peloponnese are relaxed and sweaty. Even windy! So prepare for many days of sailing and many beautiful places. Sometimes time flies. And even though we go with an average speed of 5 knots, which is like 9km/h, we suddenly leave the Peloponnese behind us and are on our way back to the Ionian Sea again. And so we end our journey. Ready for the next step people!

Who are we?
We are a European couple from Germany (Alex) and the Netherlands (Mandy), sailing around the Med on our 36ft sailboat. Six months ago we started our journey in Greece with little sailing experience, figuring things out as we go, not really knowing what we're doing. Our goal is to circumnavigate the world via the wind, always being surrounded by the ocean. Sailboat life is super different from land life and can be pretty rough at times. see the little things is the documentary of our endeavour of simplifying life, decelerating pace, and practicing mindfulness. Follow our adventures when you are curious to see how we mess up and fix it up again! We are currently still sailing Greece, but will head over to Italy and beyond soon.

Hi, new to the channel and binge watching, great work and videography! Oh, and one tip (though this late probably someone mentioned it already): when raising the main (or any other halyard) from the mast, don't pull down, rather pull outwards like a bow string and then down and have the pitman pull after you finish the outward pull and start going down, much faster, more efficient and much easier - you can even use a leg on the mast to pull out.

Hehe, it's hard move a lot on a boat, since it's so small! So you gotta take every opportunity you get to get active and work out a bit. Pulling up the main is somehow so much fun. I specifically wanted a sailboat without a furling main sail, because hoisting gives you the real sailing feeling, at least for me it does. Of course everybody sees that differently, but I just really enjoy it 😁💪

Great video production work by u guys. Having owned a Beneteau 351, I ordered in 1993, I learned that the 35’ range of Beneteau’s tend to move a lot in the seaways. If you jump up just a little bit in size to a 38’ to 40’ Beneteau, the ride is much smoother at anchor or in a seaway. It has to do with the length and ballast weight relative to the swell or distance between waves. For living on board full time, you may want to try a longer boat. I’m shopping now for one in that size range. A 373 or a 393.
@seethelittlethings
@seethelittlethings 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael :) ! Yeah we've heard the same, makes sense too. Maybe one day we'll go bigger (when we have more money ;)) Hope you find that boat, we've seen some very pretty 393's. Sometimes I wish we would've had the money to get that one. It has a relatively normal bed in the V-Berth! cheers

We mounted the fixed one on our davit with NOA mounts (kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHW1imNnrseGY6s - the flexible panels are simply attached to the Bimini with bungee cord. This year we might button them on, they sometimes fly up when gusts hit 🙉

Bring the halyards & topping-lift in the cockpit and lock them with a line stopper (easy to install) and use a winch. You also need a block attached to the base of the mast.😉 Also, it seems to me the women do all the hard work and the men sip cocktails 😂
@seethelittlethings
@seethelittlethings 4 жыл бұрын
hehe I just really enjoy pulling up the sail up on deck, seems to be easier. But if we have to, we do it in the cockpit, thank god that is possible! Alex just likes filming me when I do the hard work ;)

I changed all mainhalyards to the mast,much quicker and easy to hoist the main.every block creates friction.

Hey Mandy, I noticed you wear a bit if jewelery. You probably know this already, but shiny earrings are like wearing fishing lures on your head. Barracuda's and other sharp toothed fish will be attracted to them, so please take them off when you are in the water. The only one that should be nibbling on your ears is Alex.
@seethelittlethings
@seethelittlethings 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Hamilton, that is really interesting! I did NOT know that! I am pretty sure you don't find these fish in the Med, at least not in the bays where we swim. But I will definitely keep that in mind for when we cross the pond at some point. Don't want those fish eating my ears! 😯
