I scared the pants off this "newish" player off stream. They were hilarious and made my night.
I don't attack new players if I don't have to and I especially don't bother people during tall tales.

Yes, once a friend and I were doing the shroudbreaker, when we finished it, we noticed a ship and we thought nothing of it. The ship was waiting for us to finish to attack us because they probably knew we had a quest and it took us a few hours to complete it, they sank out ship. I hate those players that wait for someone to finish something then ambush them.

@@shanegilbertson Eh, it's a pirate game, ambushes happen. However, I do agree with the idea that people on tall tales should be left alone, except for shores of gold. I feel that it's fair game, gold curse shouldn't be THAT easy to obtain ;) Also Ashen Curse Brigs, on the wild rose tall tale. We're still looking for my friends music box they stole.

My friends and I pulled up w a full Galleon to do the siren section of the pirates life tall tale and when we arrived we noticed there was a brig anchored above the black pearl wreckage. I made the dumbass decision of being nice and I said to my friends we shouldn’t attack the ship even if it’s empty bc that’d just be a dick thing to do, they’re obv there for the tall tale same as us. I told my friends I’d stay behind just for a lil bit to watch our ship and told the 3 they can go ahead and swim down to the tall tale and id catch up. Well instead of going on their way the brigs full crew pulled up and blundied me. They planted chests of sorrow on our ship and then as they picked us off as we spawned back on our ship they turned their brig to fire on us. We sunk. It was this event that reminded me that the only way to be safe in SoT is to be an asshole 100% of the time and take every advantage you can to sink others first. Truth be told player interactions like those are just one of the reasons that SoT often just ruins the moods of my days. Makes me want to uninstall yk?

@@luke0436 Clearly haven't learned about checkpoints yet ;) And even when solo, you can easily avoid players, and the tales themselves don't actually take that long. Maybe an hour max for each one. Besides the point, length doesn't equal how easy the tales are. The fact that the tales can be cheesed, and that only two somewhat need usage of a bit of brain power, it's really not hard at all. There are no major threats in a tall tale. You get to a checkpoint, you start over from said checkpoint if you fail (which is rare). Getting the curse is easy, just tedious in terms of time. That's the only reason people haven't gotten it: The tales are boring, and it takes 40-50 hours.

ive had something similar to this happen to me, was chilling with some friends on a full galleon, no ships nearby on our way to a gold vault, hear some music playing and i thought it was nice. after like 3 minutes someone said that we needed to move a bit more north so i turned towards the helm to readjust... there was a fucking player just sitting on top of the helm playing the banjo with legendary theif as a title, the fucker just continues playing his banjo, dodged about 7 bullets from the whole crew, steals our rowboat and escapes.

@@LuckyOwI777 Took me a few weeks to get you basically need to steal a total of 5 Chests of Legends which everyone will do eventually if you love to steal. It can be hard and it can be easy. Some of my steals have been harder than others.

I honestly wish friendly interactions like this were more common. They’re just to few and far in between for me to get motivation to play this game. SOT can get depressing sometimes Case in point: 3 friends and I were going to do the siren queen chapter of the pirates life tall tale and we arrived to find a brig anchored above the black pearl wreckage. Well, there's literally no point in guarding your ship if your crew is doing the tall tale, unless you come there with good loot on board (which would be a really stupid thing to do). They probably sunk you so that you don't come after them later (since you were a galleon crew... right?). So, no, you don't have to be an asshole to _everyone,_ but you _should_ always assume the worst (reasonable) intentions in others and plan accordingly. You also shouldn't get upset over small things like that. I mean, the worst thing that could've happened is your ship sinking and your crew teleporting to a new one upon finishing the tall tale.

So chill. I've only been playing a couple weeks, like rank 20 in a couple traders (4 promotes) so not even enough to do all the stuff in the game. Got a couple friends to download it and was trying to explain how to play when we got attacked at the starting outpost by a Reaper ship. They almost quit entirely immediately but convinced them to stay on and scuttle the ship to spawn us somewhere else.

I think most horror game esc time I had was when I went to a brig with gunpowder keg blew it it and nobody came. But what’s weirder is that the whole time I heard a T.V or radio playing in Chinese? The tone of voice made it sound like it was the news. The brig sunk and still nothing, I thought nobody was there and I could hear him through a mermaid(there’s a glitch where you can hear players through a mermaid.) but when I spoke I could hear it come out on his end which ment he was close enough that he could hear me and his volume was loud enough that my voice played back through his mic and I could hear it. So he was on the island with me, I walked around until the volume of the radio or T.V sounded like it was directly in my ear but nobody was there. I told my friend and it was almost 12 at night so we were both kinda creeped out.

A friend and I once took revenge on a galleon by following it from a safe distance and when it stoped my friend and I hoped into a life boat rowed over to them and he lit the sails on fire I put some bananas on the stove. After a little while later they came back put out most of the fires. But must have missed the stove because ten minutes later. Their stopped on a island and their ship is fully engulfed with fire.

Lol my crew and I have played on and off since Beta. We usually just leave people alone and let them do their own thing too. Just the other day we were pulling into an outpost with our galleon and saw a vanilla sloop docked there. We circled the island waiting for them to finish up. We figured they had to be new to the game because they totally freaked as soon as they realized we were there and tried to come after us. Poor guys… we gave them a quick death… But they were so butt hurt that they sailed all the way back to that outpost just to try to sink us again. It was entertaining to watch, but wished they would have chilled out.
