Wow. Very thought-provoking. Powerful. Was married to an extreme narcissist who carried on an emotional affair with a woman for 15 of the 16 years we were married. At the end of our marriage, he married her. To this day, he claims that she was only a friend. To this day he is still trying to gaslight me about the nature of their relationship during our marriage. It took all of my adult life to fully comprehend his narcissism and to grow to the point that I fully understood that he psychologically abused me throughout our marriage. Because, of course, the type of psychological abuse I experienced led me to believe it was all my fault, so I carried on the psychological abuse long after he was gone. It took a really long time to resolve, but I’m free now, and happily so! No remorse. No shoulda woulda coulda. At last I feel completely whole within myself. I still enjoy men friends but I don’t need anybody who could possibly make my life better than it is today. The journey was hard but the payoff has been profound.

Some mistakes are unforgivable. As far as mistakes go, if you are old enough to know better the first time, you should be held culpable. I agree with everything you said on Loyalty.
