Oh I like the idea of using temperature rather than arbitrary dates that are often wrong. Excellent video and great information!

I'm grateful for your timely videos, we started seeds indoors for the first time this year and we're following along with you. Every time we've been asking ourselves when we should do the next step you release a video answering the question, thanks! Our tomato plants look exactly like yours, it's really neat. I just hope the weather warms up enough to plant soon because they're outgrowing the shelf they're on. If you have any tips for planting early in the chilly weather they would be welcome.

Love your guidance. I've got Spring fever at previously unknown levels, lol. My inside starters (green beans, reddish, lettuce & spinach) are looking good. Work keeps getting delayed due to weather... literally twitching to get started

Hi Jeff. You look good. I've been out of the realm of things for a bit. Thanks for this video. One thing I am unsure of is when planting in buckets and fabric bags,. How deep the bucket or planter should be. Ya know what I mean? Obviously potatoes and carrots need more space but does it matter with say like ground growers strawberries green beans. That's where I get lost. Excuse my writing commas are not on my list of things to do today. LOL love & God bless ❤

Hey Donna, great to hear from you!! For each crop, there's a different set of requirements. For sure strawberries and peas you can get away with 6 inches

Very short growing season Carol? When roughly is the final harvests for you?

Hey Jeff, for the summer crops your voice over said no less than 15C during night, but your text overlay said during the day.

Yup, it was meant what was said. I used the term "day" not to describe "daytime", but the ENTIRE day. As in, "wait until the coldest part of the entire 24 day stays above 15C". 🙂

Is the temperature timeline for transplants, sowing from seed, or both?
@sandyhayden-bristow1382
@sandyhayden-bristow1382 Жыл бұрын
My cold crop seeds recommend outdoor planting at soil temp of 5C, so I would say it depends upon which plants you are going to put outside. Tomatoes and pepper and melons need at least 10-15C overnight temps to survive outside.

Both Amarie. The soil temperature needs to be at a certain level to get the plants or the seeds in. Many seeds will lie dormant in really cold soil...many will also rot and die. I just plant (or sow) when the soil is warm enough.

If I waited to your temperature recommendations I wouldn't plant my cool season crops till mid may and my warm season crops till mid June. Zone 5b and only 130 to 135 day season

That's why we start seeds early indoors so that the days clock can begin WAY earlier....

I'm in 5b too but I plant directly outside and have had plants going right through October. Cold crops should be able to go in the ground sometime in April, warmer plants around May 24th. You can use row covers to protect from early frost in October and that helps keep the growing season going so you get the most from what you planted.
