I understand the first two options, but why would someone reasonably want to work backwards? After Effects is such a great detailing tool that it doesn't make sense to use it edit a completed sequence instead of clip by clip and then do the arranging of these finessed clips in premiere.

since it's been a year or more, you've probably found your answer already, this is for other people who will read this comment, proxies are app specific, they exist to create a smoother editing experience by working with smaller and lesser quality versions of the original footage for the app you're working in respectively, when working with linked media via dynamic link, the linked media either proxied or original will need to be constantly rendered unless you prerender or render and replace depending on the app, so making proxies will not benefit across apps, there will be slight improvement, but since the media has to be "transmitted" through a virtual version, it's still workload

Does both softwares need to be the same year? I'm using Premirer Pro 2020 and After Effects 2019. And anytime I try the first option, they say you must install After Effects.

when I edit a premiere pro composition in after effects through dynamic link manager and add audio in after effects, that audio is not audible in premiere pro, it's very frustrating when I apply a transition in after effects with some whoosh sound, the transition is shown in premier pro but its sound is not audible in premiere, please guide me if there is a solution to it...I highly appreciate your efforts in teaching us, I have learned a lot from your channel.

If you're working on the dynamic link then you do nothing. You save your Ae project and the Pr timeline will update. If your not working in the dynamic link then you need to export your video and re-import it back into Pr.

Hey flat! when do you color correct/grade during this process? (asking because editing the dynamic link in premiere pro can take forever having to render it again everytime you edit)

I don’t color during any dynamic link. I export everything to either divinci at the end or I wait till there is nothing else to be done and then color in Ae or Pr and export. As you noted any colouring will slow down dynamic linking a lot.

It will slow it down but you shouldn’t have to use dynamic link when your colouring, because you will be completely done at that point. You should also color in the program you started I.e if you started in Pr and sent files too Ae then color in Pr. I personally export everything too divinici resolve and color my project there. Hope that helps.

Yes you can but if you do it that way make sure they are pre-rendered to make it easier.

Okay but how do I set up a dynamic link? Usually it just works but sometimes I import an AE template and it doesn't automatically link. I have to relink media in Premiere everytime I make changes in AE. Why isn't this automatic?

Generally Dynamic link requires both programs to be open to work. But if you save the Ae file then close Pr it should work when you next open agin.

I got a problem! when I open premiere pro project in after effects through Dynamic link, every effect applied in after effects appear in premiere except audio. Let's say I apply a transition in after effects with sound effect, but in the premiere, it just shows visual part of that transition not audio, and I have to add that sound effect again in premiere which is very time-taking. Is this a problem in my version or it's same for you? If it's the same then did you find a solution for it or not?
