I play pudge and throw hooks like that, they snag a creep or hit nothing but air, meanwhile some people can throw hooks into a creep wave and it fucking *curves* around to hit the hero... (you can literally see if you pause at the right time that the rope on the hook literally fucking curves when it snaps to sniper from its straight line.)

That's just the toy butcher animation for hook. He hooked ahead of the creep and the edge of the hook hit box hit the hero. Practice makes perfect

Wouldnt shrapnel be better for this matchup? Pudge got such high damage trying to contest last hit would be near impossible. Letting the wave push in and use shrapnel with tower damage to last hit wouldn't that be better?

nope! with sharpnel your chance of getting Last hit might be higher but chance of deny is lower, as sharpnel deal AOE damage all the enemy creep die almost before even a single creeps of yours even die, the creep waves move to tower and that why deny chance is lower. sniper vs pudge mid (pudge will always win late game) early game there is a way for sniper to win. which is by aggro-ing the creep wave and keep pudge at low hp (without sharpnel) basic hit on pudge, also always to dodge hook, this is the only way to win again pudge early game. pudge will have no choice but to gank, and sniper can free farm mid and took down tower. ON mid game its either u killed ursef or pudge will kill u anyway. coz if sniper build full damage they will make sure they buy blademail. Its all depend on the player!

@@Mugetsu-xf8tn But creep agro goes both ways though and pudge can tank a lot more than sniper so sniper still loses if pudge decided to agro too. Sniper will not have the resources (damage and range is too low and not enough space to dodge pudge hook at that distance) to deny anyways specially since pudge damage is higher. Unless the player skill difference is huge.

@@Delacrow_l_Chawngthu bro sure pudge can tank more than sniper, but, with sniper headshot and take aim, early game pudge is nothing(i mean the laning phase) sniper have much more damage, and if pudge aggro creep thats work much better sniper coz the creep will block the hook for sniper so he can just keep hitting him. Pudge will have no choice but to retreat only

@@Mugetsu-xf8tn But how long can sniper keep his hp in check tanking all the creep when he agro and pudge also take the agro. Also pudge can just straight up follow his creep when sniper agro and just smack him, sniper range during laning is abysmal and he needs at least 2 points to get enough range to reliably keep distance to evade the hook that means sniper would only have window after lvl 3 and if pudge manage to get decent deny that window would be pushed to 4 or 5 as he would be massively out farmed and out levelled. If pudge play aggressive sniper cant do much at all, he can just stand between the creep and sniper and if sniper comes for sneaky auto to get his hp low, he will get hooked 100%. I still think shrapnel is a better choice, he can keep his distance and also keep pudge away from sitting on the wave. When his creep pushes it also gives time for runes/stacking creep without losing any exp.
