I remember a couple of years back you shared on a video about a neurologist Izzy was seeing when you brought her home. You mentioned how he almost defensively said he couldn’t cure her brain. You guys did not have unrealistic expectations and that seem to take the shield down for him. I don’t remember all the info as it has been a few years since I watched. But I thought of that with your intro and the social media warriors. That doctor was probably use to the criticism of all those warriors online, and you all came in with balanced expectations. I think you guys are doing great!

Is Izzy aware of different environments and people? I will never have the ability or opportunity to adopt a child so I praise you and your husband for doing so. The people who leave the negative comments want nothing more than to “rain on your parade”. You have an amazing and blessed family. I pray God continues continues to bless you.

I do enjoy all of your posts! I have graduated 2 daughters from homeschooling and know the commitment it takes. I praise you for homeschooling your children. It is a high calling. I would never attempt to tell you what to do. Every child and every situation is different. I pray that the Lord will continue to guide, provide, lead, and strengthen.

Yes Ashley it’s clear to see what a terrible job you are doing 😂😂 I mean mika and Izzy have made no progress what so ever and you really should take time away from them to listen to the wise souls of social media and learn to parent properly ……shame on you lol. I don’t know that anyone could have done any kind of a better job, those two little girls have blossomed like the beautiful little flowers that they are, I couldn’t have done what you and Stan have done and I have no shame in saying it. How old are the other two children and are they special needs also. On the few vlogs I follow, I've heard them all talk of their frustration with the same thing you are dealing with. There doesn't seem to be a solution short of leaving social media all together. Good luck with everything in the future. You have a great family and the girls are very lucky

Are you talking about Lilly Grace in China? if so, she is 6 now and yes she is non verbal and has limb indifference. We have not been matched with a child in BUlgaria yet, but she will have special needs too but unsure of the severity.

As a special education teacher, I am wondering if you have considererd special education services offerred through your local school district for your girls? I have had families who have home-schooled most of their children and also chose public school for their children who have special needs. In our state of Oregon, parents are involved 100% in their child's daily schedule at school and can choose what services and schedule that they want for their child from the services being offerred. For example, you would not have to change the weekly therapy schedule that the girls are following currently. Specialists in your school district and ESD (Educational Service District) may have ideas of how to support your girls in their communication, daily living skills, social skills and behavior that may be helpful for them and you. The district can work with your current outside therapists if you would like as well. Each specialist has their own educational background and knowledge of working with children with special needs. The more specialists offering suggestions for each of your girls may be helpful. You are both doing such a wonderful job for your girls!!! You are both truly an insperation of God's telling us to take care of orphans and widows.

Thank you for your kind words. We are not in need of assistance from the public school system. I know there are wonderful programs that each state offers, some better than others. Our girls are doing amazing--based on each of their individual capacities and cognitive abilities. Each month, our girls are gaining new skills and understandings and that is how we measure if what we are doing is working well for each of them. Mika Ella's communication skills are improving with the help of our wonderful speech therapist. She is using her communication device more and more and discovering new words. During homeschooling, she has expanded her ASL, she is doing double addition and carrying. She can subtract. She spells wonderfully. She is independent, responsible, and very helpful around the house. She is thriving. Isabelle is responding to new phrases monthly which is huge. Although she has sensory seeking negative behaviors--we manage thru those very well and outside help is not going to add any value to us, at this point. If we ever see the need to seek out other avenues, we will. ;)

You are right. I do choose to post knowing complete strangers will see it and have an opinion. That is fine. Just as they have an opinion, I do too. I will share my opinion and feedback as a form of education from the inside. Also in hopes that people will realize that they need to THINK before speaking and spewing judgements, accusations, and opinions.

I am not the first and no mam--that is where the problem lies! You and others think that just because someone offers a glimpse into their life publicly--that it's permissible to vomit all of their opinions/judgments at any point. You are giving an excuse and a leeway for those strangers to just vomit anything they want because this is a public forum?! How about we teach others to practice self control. How about we teach others kindness. How about we teach others the sense of entitlement that keyboard warriors have. I understand that I am subjected to more critism because I share my life on a public forum. However, that does not mean that I won't hold people accountable and it does not mean that I just sit but quietly and not speak up. People need to do better. Period.

Re-read your comment and understand how your tone came off harshly. I have been active on social media for a long time, therefore, if you think I was unaware of how people love to vomit opinions/judgments/accusations, then you are clueless. You were not educating me on the topic. Your comment left an underlying tone that said, I am to blindly and cowardly accept all comments just because I am on a public forum. Complete strangers are leaving comments for people they do not know, and they need to be aware of their tone and verbiage. I guarantee you, they would not say those things face to face to me, so why post them? There is no offense taken here and I am not looking to offend you. Thanks!
