It is one thing to have a disagreement (even heated) about fishing behavior, but to back a vessel into another on the hook is indefensible. That is not a lapse of reason but an unacceptable example of boat rage. I am stunned to see a "professional" captain perform this disgusting maneuver - and with a charter to boot.

As a kayaker fisherman I didn’t realize you boaters deal with the same stuff as kayakers do. Now don’t get me wrong some kayakers are butt holes as well however do have the ones like myself who just want to fish maybe catch a keeper to eat for later or just enjoy the water without any incidents or blood pressure getting up. Awesome video gents and for not losing your cool. I am from the area where that boat is from and well I agree with you on this boat is butt hole. Hopefully this doesn’t bite me in the butt and other boaters who are friends with this guy don’t come after me and my kayaker friends on the water as well. Think safe and be safe gents. We appreciate that and I do my best not to fish in a main channel. If I do fish I simply just move out the way. People are a lot crazier than I would ever want to be and they take things too far and don't give a crap about the result. I avoid all of them to begin with.

I head to florida once every year, I see floridians stack up on each other worse than NY and actually be okay with it which has me scratching my head. I have also heard captains tell me about Vandalism to their boats, trailer, and vehicle because of Jealousy and spot wars.

I relate, I was bottom fishing in Reynolds Channel one time when the Yankee (Point lookout) came up on me and anchored right on top of me, his anchor line right across my skiff, I pulled out a knife and started to cut his line, but they (the mates) started throwing sinkers at me, I decided it wasn't worth getting hurt over so I got out of there. I did report it but never heard back from anyone. I don't know if the Yankee is still there but they dock at the same marina as the Capt. Al so I advise anyone to go with Capt. AL I remember him sailing with just 4 guys on board Now that's! A good bloke!

Wowww. I can’t believe in this day and age people still act this way about something as free and clear as the ocean. When I’m fishing I don’t care if boats park anywhere around me. I’m on my spot I want to fish and I encourage other boaters when fishing. It’s a great lifestyle and sport. Nice fish by the way !!!!!!

happens on the south shore as well. laura Lee hit an outrigger on a boat I was on 30 miles offshore . We were the only boat on the wreck and will try and push you off a piece. you drift and by the time you try and make another drift they anchor on top of the piece you were fishing. Glad you called the coast guard but nothing happens even with video evidence.

@@superstarr-hs4tn fisher's Island is part of southold township. There is a line somewhere in that location on the NYS DEC map sector 146. It's actually NY waters. A little north is Conn water, sector 147. That guy has harrassed many boaters from what I have gathered, if not trying to pop their anchor then it's setting up on them. Silly behavior.

Last week i was out alone and anchored up on a spot i like at a certain tide. Iwas the first boat there. I did well for about an hour. Then two boats come and anchor within 20 feet of me on my port and starboard sides The boat on the port side throws over a chum pot full of clams. I start catching 10 inch blackfish while they are still catching nothing, and no more big fish for me. After a half hour of this I pulled hook and left to another spot.

The party boat captains all think they have rights because they are making a living on the water. There is a boat that is notorious for doing the same on the North Shore in Nassau County. Was told by someone that he will actually bleach bomb a spot to kill the bite there for days. SMH. Like you said, there are tons of spots to fish. There is no need for that.

In heavy wind with waves or when a large boat wakes you at close range on your port or starboard side, it rocks the boat enough for the anchor to let go of the ground it was holding.

I love the melon wedge style with a 5/0 2X sickle hook. The right sickle hook has the point slightly outward which allows grab the mouth wall better. A lot of my hooksets are in the cheek with that hook like a circle hook.

This has been happening since I was a child. Ignorant people, with a boat, think that because that can afford the boat they have a right of way on the water. I wish I had a dollar for each time I was fishing from the shore( jetty or beach) and someone with a boat parked in front of me and started fishing. The response is always “buy yourself a boat”! When I’m on the jetties I have to stop myself from throwing rocks at them. Especially at higher tides when then run along (within 20ft) the jetty even though the channel markers are nowhere near the jetty

I did report him to coast guard in new haven. He was spoken to by the investigator there. I got the "it takes two to tango" line and that he probably wishes he never acted that way response. The video had over 20k views not in his businesses favor.

Small-minded captain. must not have a lot of spots. That's why it's important to keep your Stone are on during fluke season to pick up additional black fishing spots and mark them. This way you don't have to fish around other assholes

You said you established the bite already and he was only going to catch small fish so what was the problem . You don't own the spot its black fishing .

Had this happen to me 3 weeks ago with a party boat in jersey but he dropped the anchor and ended up about 30’ from me on the port side after he aggressively circled my boat. But since I was on spot lock and he was now anchored I would be held responsible if there was a collision since the law considers spot lock as underway not anchored I moved on.

I have seen him fish the same area, that's all good and fine. You have it wrong. Setting up on other boats is asking for trouble. Every head boat captain I know has posted a about another captain or Rec fisherman setting up on them. Not one of them were happy about it. There are many ways to handle this situation, this one hit him hard and didn't involve a criminal act.

Lived in NY yrs ago fished LIS most of my young life into my 20s had an issue in Rye NY with a dick head doing a squeeze on a small reef that had 4 boat on it already he has a 35 ft boat we all had 17 to 22 ft boats we all started chuck sinkers at him and his buddies after we all are screaming wtf are you doing. He gave us the finger and left. I fish in the panhandle now for over 30 years, not a single incident .Fishing is to enjoy and to be relaxing and making memories, not this crap in the video. I guess here in the South, because we all have guns, this doesn't go on😂.
