Such a controversial subject. In 1989 I would later have my first child. The mother was 14 and I was 15. That daughter we had is now almost 30 years old a Doctor degree in Physical Therapy and soon to run her own PT practice. 1995 I married this child hood sweetheart. I had a son and our last daughter was born in 2000. She is now a sophomore in college. I have remarried because my childhood sweetheart who gave birth to my three children died from breast cancer. I have my fourth daughter born in 2007. I have been blessed with two soulmates. One for 19 years. I'm re- married now for 12 years. I say all this to say. My first child at 15 years of age. Turned me into a man. I dont know where I would be if I didnt have my child in 1989. Many friends dead, in jail or strung out on drugs can give me a gauge of where I would be had I not had my child at 15... Mr Independent Dave Dunson

@Chadwicked B that's not true 100% of the time. because my aunt and uncle had their first baby at 18 and they got married and now my uncle makes like half million a year as a electrical engineer. I would have rather been in a relationship back then vs now because now everybody is selfish.

Sex education is so critical, and it needs to start around age 11/12. Girls need to know what sex is and what it can lead to and how to protect themselves. Better for them to know the graphic truth than to birth a child they can't take care of. The latter is far, far more tragic. There is absolutely no reason for a girl to rush into sex. I didn't, thank goodness. Had a serious boyfriend at age 16 and we slept in the same bed, but we didn't have sex. I wasn't ready. I thank my lucky stars. I lost my virginity at age 22, and it was the perfect age for me. Girls, don't rush into sex. You will have plenty of years to have great sex.

the one that gave her baby up for adoption was spitting straight facts about being fanatically stable an how u need more than just "love" to take care of a baby i relate so much wit her because i gave my baby up for adoption its a very selfless thing, doesn't mean u dont love your baby it means that u love him/her so much that u want a better life for it.

Bruh TV? I have learned that rather than be "judgemental," I would rather be "supportive" in guiding and listening to teens. Many times, sexual activity is not spoken of or taught in their homes. Which is where it should be. Including the many variables teen-age mothers will have to face. I am also an adult which is also being responsible in guiding the "ones behind me." Yes, ultimately teens DO have the "final" decision--but armed with the correct information and resources, all we can hope for is that they make the RIGHT choices for themselves. Again, I do not want a teen to under-go a life of strugglenomics.

There is a song by Loretta Lynn "Thank God I Got The Pill." I wouldn't want to be a teenaged mother. The birth control pill and birth control in general is supposed to liberate young women. This is what the lack of sexual education, health and Home Economics in school gives society---a loss of opportunity and children living in poverty. Also, the parents need to educate the children more and read about and see positive role models.

No its just a documentary. Not the 1st and it wont be the last. Young people seem to always believe that what they are watching on TV has never been done before. Actually everything that occurs in music or TV has already been done before. Ie all the remakes if movies.

My mom had a baby at 15 years old and gave him up for adoption. She then got married at the age of 24 and had me and my two sisters. It’s crazy to think that I have a brother out there who I know nothing about and who probably doesn’t know I exist, and the only picture I have of him is a picture of him as a newborn; but my mom definitely made the right choice at the time. I also have an aunt from my dad’s side that was a teen mom and the baby turned out to be severely autistic. The father took off, she never finished school, and she never got married to another man, so now in her 50s she is still taking care of her severely disabled adult son by herself. It is SO important that we educate kids about sex.

This was a great post reelblack... the makers of this documentary spent time to make this as a learning tool for young people to be aware of the result of having unprotected sex at a time that a lot of parents were not talking about it....i wonder if the makers of this doc look around today and realize this didn't even put a dent in the alarming a mount of teen birth there is...and with so much information at hand for young people......sad

It is sad...Alot of this information was not available to most people during this actual time to inform people. Im 34 yrs old and this is the first time i ever saw or heard of this video. I was a mother of two at 19. I got a diploma, many dont finish they drop out due to embarrassment. Internet was not out back then. Now all this and much much much more information is available to all people...This is the time and generation able to educated themselves and thier children to actually change any generational curses and all strategies used to keep our people under subjegation. Its in the home, church, school, family, economically, finacially. We start by showing love to one another. Support of black owned businesses. We are just now at the time in history that all information is available for us to reasearch and gain knowledge of how similar things still are as were in the past

Interesting, I was born in this year to a mother who was 18, father 22 .From my understanding, they were both in love at the time I'm the first. They separated about four years later after 2 other boys . I wonder if I'll ever meet these other kids here in the States. And I've been thinking my mother was really young for parenthood, but after seeing this in America with younger ones...I didn't realize how open they talked on TV about sex and periods and birth control methods in 1982 .Those interviewed seem not from.stereotypical regions of earlier pregnancy.I wonder what parents and kids are up to 39 years later. Thanks for this.

Well, I was young, and silly, and crazy about this one boy once upon a time. That time was over quick. I had the kind of Father that laid down the law ONCE. I KNEW NOT TO PLAY AROUND OR HAVE SEX! I'm sooooo glad I got a good understanding because I was married before I had any type of sex. I am a 60 y.o. woman thats proud to say I only had two children.... Praise God! Kids deserve better than to have young, stupid mothers who have no desires other than to have sex and laugh and giggle like a school girl. The boys move from girl to girl making babies without a care, while the girls find out life is pretty messed up if all you have to look forward to is changing diapers and cleaning up.... and of course worrying when the babies are sick...... YOU DO IT AND YOU DO IT ALONE.... except for Jesus. If only we could get Wisdom early and not put our children thru hell.

I lost my virginity at 13 years old, which in hindsight was way too young. I desperately wanted a baby and proceeded to try to get pregnant (it really isn't difficult to get a teen boy to not use protection!). I was so damn stupid! I had gotten my period at nine years old. Luckily it turns out that I am about as fertile as a house brick, so l never did get pregnant, thankfully! I wish I could go back and tell my young self to close my legs, get some self respect and wait for my husband!

It may sound oldfashioned to many, but after seeing this video I am more sure than before that it really is worth waiting with intimacies until you are married. No matter how "modern" or "progressive" our society thinks it has becomenow, there is no way around following the time-proven standards set out in the Bible and elsewhere if you realy want to be happy. Everthing else is just fooling yourself, no matter how things may work out for you in the end after all. I waited, and it was worrth it!
