The problem with a lot of these episodes (not your examples) is they try and have their cake and eat it too. "It was all a dream" "alternate reality" or there's some magic undo button. That's why X-Men hit so hard for me. We see cable in the episode early on. Clearly he's gonna stop this and save everyone... right? But no. We get a ground side view of some of the most horrific imagery they could get away with, that feels straight out of the news, and people we like die. Horribly, brutally, and there's no undo button. The consequences stick.

I agree fully. I will also remember watching an episode of cw's flash and it being so crazy, a bunch of characters die and like it's crazy.. Then the flash just goes back and time and it's done. I hate that kinda stuff which is why I love that episode of X-men.
