It is a great movie. Great Coach that motivated on the field, and in the class with a religion and beliefs - based system, with great coaching as well. You have to believe in yourself. The first time I saw it, this scene alone stuck in my head for a week. This is probably my favorite scene, because everything comes to fruition in the movie.... in a sensational moment if you are a fan of football, and know what all that really meant for one. Also..some parents really are this way, and the kid often can overcome that mindset due to another figure in his life, that is not selfish and tyrannical, but the opposite. Selfless and respectable/humble....a father figure they never had. Coach Bob Lat was that father figure and person who cared in general through God...that led kids to the right path the best he could.. from what I have read, and seen on the movie and documentaries I could find. He was a great motivator on and off the field. I love this movie and own it.

IKR. I agree that player was probably the most selfish until that army recovery place. He was the "friday night lights Booby miles ego I am better and can skip workouts or practice etc...." character. The dad was that parent I hate to see at games. He was The "Tim McGraw from Friday Night Lights."..except he wasnt an overbearing drunk "has been" left by his wife football player state champion living in the past. He was an overbearing car salesman trying to live and boast about his sons success he never had. Would be a great car salesman pitch lmao fr tho it would catapult the business. Great movie. U are 100% correct, sir.

Bob Ladecour the greatest high school football coach of all time cared very little about his accomplishments as a football coach. He cared more about his players learning the lessons he used football to teach with.
