Oh Pricilla and Asa. I won’t insult anyone’s intelligence by acting like I know what to do in your place. But I am a nurse, who very well remembers a young man with special needs who suffered from obesity. When he needed dental work, he had to be admitted to the hospital with an ICU bed on hold due to the risk of anesthesia for him. Due to his obesity, he was at such high risk for even minor dental work. Stay the course on this issue, and do what YOU know is best for sweet Abbie. I can’t begin to imagine how hard it is to say “No” to that sweet face, but you are doing what is best for her. Stay the course!

You were talking toward the end of the vlog, about people mentioning Abbie's snacking...In addition to all of the things you mentioned, people need to realize that Abbie constantly burns calories like crazy with her rocking, running around the house, etc. She burns calories up doing that constant moving, stemming, shaking her arms, etc. It weird to me some of the things people point out!!
@annaroseannadanna15 жыл бұрын
D. Lemmon Not to mention the fact that they’re careful to monitor what snacks she does get AND except while on their vacay, they’ve also cut back on the sugary foods she has been getting. I said FOODS not snacks.

@@annaroseannadanna1 yea, really, I agree!! I just do NOT get where it's people's concern! The Maass family has OBVIOUSLY handled things quite well for 13 years....actually longer, when you consider how well they have been raising Isaiah, too. Bottom line is they run their household just fine & are kind enough to invite us all into their home & lives, in hopes to spread awareness & educate people about Autism. They have committed their lives to it & work VERY HARD to share these things with the world! And a SUPREME job they have done, doing all of that!! I have learned SO MUCH about SO MANY things, watching them!! I have NO DOUBT they have greatly helped MANY families dealing with a diagnosis on the spectrum & needing support & guidance, reassurance, etc. The Maass family has made a VERY REAL difference in countless lives, & it REALLY irks me that anyone would find anything to try & pick apart!!! Sometimes people miss the point, because they are SO busy judging, etc. I cannot even begin to imagine the impact they have made, for sharing such valuable information & tools!

Yeah, I have seen a lot of weird, unnecessary, judgmental and downright rude comments over a variety of things that are simply unbelievable. On the last video there's a woman who told Priscilla that she sees sun damage on her skin from not wearing sunscreen. Why would you tell her that? That just seems hurtful to me. It's one thing to ask her if she wears sunscreen because it's so potentially dangerous not to, but to point out skin damage? Was that necessary? Priscilla does wear sunscreen...would have been nice to have asked her that though first instead of assuming she didn't. Another woman was upset because Isaiah had a few pieces of Abbie's candy. She felt like it was just for Abbie. Lol! I just am at a loss for some of the comments I see. Like you, I get to feeling defensive of the Maass family and often leave my thoughts to those who leave these kinds of comments. I just don't understand some people.

@@gigisoglamorousipeeglitter7466 yes, it's extremely bazaar, some of the garbage people say!! I happen to think Priscilla is beautiful & young looking! I don't know what kind of microscope this person is using, to see any damage! Some people DEFINITELY need to check themselves!!! It's all a form of bullying & it's just not acceptable to those of us that LOVE the Maass family!! Trolls need to take a hike!

Abbie is not a starving kid trust me new people out there! She eats well but becauseee she can’t stop herself from overeating, they do have to closely regulate her diet. It’s not them wanting her to stay skinny because they like her better that way, it’s legitimately for health reasons because Abbie can’t understand when she’s full. And if she were allowed to eat when and how much she wanted, she could easily eat until her stomach ruptures. She ate a whole rotisserie chicken one time when the fridge wasn’t locked guys! She doesn’t have the ability to care that she’s full. It’s to keep her at a stable weight so that she doesn’t develop health concerns that she doesn’t need to deal with. But she is not a starving child!
@shawnda8355 жыл бұрын
Telling your child they cannot eat is one of the harder parts of parenthood. I am constantly bombarded with people's opinions on how often my 9 year Abbi eats. She is slightly overweight but she is also 5 feet tall and constantly active, riding bikes, walking, or just playing. It takes a lot of energy for someone to grow! We have learned to replace with healthier options, but she's still a kid who deserves a cookie every now and again. You guys are amazing people and parents. Please don't let the opinions of others weigh on you. Thank you for allowing us all to be a part of your daily life!

Hey, you are all doing a great job. I think most people also don't realize how you don't get enough sleep. That's a huge factor in obesity as well as fake sugars (cancer causing). So much in the world makes it hard for people to lose weight and get healthy. Even vegetables and fruit that aren't organic have pesticides called "obesogens" which are chemicals that basically act like estrogen in the body and causes people to gain weight. It makes you want to start your own organic farm! People just do their best but it's hard these days with so many factors making it hard to people to get healthy. A little understanding can go a long way.

I definitely don’t see anything wrong with her eating and it’s sad people feel the need to comment on it! She’s a youngster and she could have a high metabolism 🤷🏼♀️ and even if she doesn’t being young like she is and eating often and a lot is just part of it when she gets older she may grow out of it! But no one asked for my 2 cents but I felt like saying, I don’t feel as if she eats to much or that y’all are bad parents or anything of the sort I think y’all are great parents and she has a great brother I think she’s living her best life AND SNACKS ARE PART OF IT FOR HER lol lots of love from Oklahoma

Food regulation is extremely important for children. Especially those who will eat 24/7. I have "eating issues" that stem from a lot of mental health issues like depression, poor self esteem, etc and I wish as a child that my parents would have given me a better environment food wise. There are times that I could eat for hours and hours without being hungry or feeling full because of those impulses that come from having a poor relationship with food. Plus, once you're overweight, it's very hard to come back from that and I cant imagine how hard it would be for Abbie to have to deal with losing that kind of weight. She isn't even bone thin, so you know she is eating well. Theres nothing abnormal about wanting your children to be healthy physically. It's very upsetting when you see young kids that are already so far over weight because their parents don't care enough about that physical health to regulate intake.

I urge you to very carefully think before you go to a dog park with Maverick. Dog parks can be very very dangerous, and even though he is a retired service dog, he is still a service dog at heart. Many people at dog parks do not have their dogs vaccinated, even though they say that they do, dogs are often aggressive, and many people do not understand signs of stress in their dogs. Signs of stress include shaking, yawning, drooling, or trying to leave the area. Your dog may also cry, and to me dog parks are not worth it. I have had a guide dog for 25 years, and our school pretty much does not allow us to visit dog parks. When you were going to put several thousand dollars toward training an animal, do not mess up the training. Maverick sees you as his pack, and if you want him to play with other dogs, meet those other dogs and their people first, so you know how those other dogs live every day. Just a suggestion.

Not so much weight but a marked increase in aches and pains. Getting old sucks. Take your vitamins. PS: I still like bicycling as a low impact form of exercise - mountain biking notwithstanding. It’s still possible to get hurt, get hyperthermia or dehydration so all that gear isn’t “extra.” Another thing I’ve seen is sort of a rollerblading form of cross country skiing that looks cool. PPS: speaking of biking, are there any events for charity there in Jax? It could be lots of fun.
